History Button not working

Sad Well if You can be of some help! I'd greatly appreciate it.
I have done some thing I am now unable to use my history button. I have 98 se IE 6.. but when I click the history button in top tool bar I get IE5 and thats all I get no pages ect.. can you help? please soon thank you
