Itunes works somewhat with Windows, it isn't the greatest combination. I would suggest reinstalling it one more time and posting back with your results.

When I recently installed it on XP Home, there was an error window buried under all the other installation windows that was preventing intallation from proceeding (almost like a popunder). I had to close it and just ignore the error (which seemed rather fatal), to continue. Itunes is working, so I have no idea what that was all about.

Here are the requirments for itunes:

Quote:
Windows System Requirements

Windows XP or 2000

500 MHz Pentium class processor or better

QuickTime 6.5.2 (included)

128 MB RAM minimum/256 RAM recommended

Latest Windows service packs recommended

Supported CD-RW drive to burn CDs, video display card, soundcard

DSL, cable modem, or LAN-based high-speed Internet connection recommended for buying and streaming music

Do you meet all of those? Perhaps you have an old version of itunes or old ipod software. You can get the newest versions here:

I love my ipod... of course I have a mac so I may be biased. Anyway, I hope you get it to work. Good luck.

iPods also claim they need USB 2.0, but they work with 1.x, just slowly.

None. But I do know if you return it, Apple will charge you a $25 "restocking fee". They're real a--holes about it. My daughter opened hers before she realized it wasn't the color she wanted and they charged her. I'm pissed at them. She shouldn't have paid it and just kept the one she had, but she's a redhead and stubborn.
