What is Fear?


What is fear but that you feel is only a perhaps
Of an impending doom, futuristic, without maps

To guide and plan your every step in life
Without worry, stress or strife?

Perhaps are only those of dreaming walkers walking among us,
Their loss, a tear in God's eyes and no relief is forthcoming thus.

Their hope is in nothing more, than laying upon another
Their worries and fears upon any sister or brother.

First, calm down, my little earthly, potentially spiritual dove,
For other than fears, hope in others, is simply earthly love.

Nothing wrong, with that of course, I would not dismiss it
But lay aside your most worrisome fears and beside me, sit.

Listen to the words of freedom within me I have found
That which has released me from my own fears, and has bound

A love greater than all fears of man combined
With profound peace and fears left far behind.

Yes, God is Love, but you must start with your own
To resurrect, polish, develop and comb.

Your love, with God's love - with you - entwined
Is your strongest offensive defense, and never to be maligned.

That love is there - He gave you a heart of flesh, did He not?
Then why ignore its grace and power to let it rot?

God and His angels know you feel you are alone,
But in reality you are not, so do not postpone

The chance for freedom, love, life and truth,
For within is where you will find that blessed fruit.

That of your own courage reaching from deep within
To have faith in what little love you find and begin

To build, at least on that love, for an impenetrable wall against
Any enemy or problem you feel your heart has sensed.

To fear for any reason, is to fear your own love
That could surround you like a glove.

So I ask again, "What is Fear?" that you would dread
That of your life that thus far has lead

Unto today and a promise fulfilled and that could be had
Simply by going after that which would make your heart glad?
