Why Does Your Heart Beat?
Thrumming through the ages, with resounding lust,
Starting from the moment of birth, unto your final dust.
Filled with the blood of life within,
The heart has an opposite twin.
Little thought is given to its other
Sharing its existence with another.
Combined with awareness of eternity,
Doubles its sounding of what, in a life, COULD be.
Not disregarding human love, the resounding heart does beat,
To sound beyond itself, is an amazing feat.
But not so amazing to the humble soul, does the heart sound,
With a greater love that is so profound -
To gather every sister and brother -
One after another.
Is this then lust? Nay, it is heavenly love,
Heretofore, sent from above.
Why does your heart beat? Is it to awaken,
To a dawn of beginning, ending or to be forsaken?
The gentle power of a heartbeat,
Is in and of itself, most incomplete -
Without a sharing to share, is not a feat
To understand why one's heart does beat.
Sure it will carry you through this life on earth,
But is that all your heart is worth?
Of more value is the gift of giving,
Your heart to another for their living
So greedily possessing your own heart do not,
Give it to another for their living, a truelove knot.
It may break but never disperse your existence,
For deep within, the beating is with persistence.
The chance you take in giving it away,
Will come back - many-fold - some day.
Listen therefore to your heart and not your head,
Heading its voice, will your eternity be fed.
Unto a greater unimaginable truth,
And fill your heart with eternal youth.
So answer now, and do not cheat,
Why - exactly - does YOUR heart beat?
