But why do you need a scanner, I ask? Surprised I just take the cartoons from the daily papers online & post them here.

Cant speak for djbt, but the reason I'm not posting any cartoons is because most of the newspapers I read (or used to read, in Holland) dont seem to publish their cartoons on the website, only in the print edition. Hence needing a scanner, which I dont have either...

nimh

I learn something new every day! Fancy that!: Some of the important European newspapers don't publish cartoons online! Surprised This is very surprising! Just about all of the major Oz newspapers do it: The AGE, Sydney Morning Herald, The Australian ..... Maybe it's to do with copyright in Holland & other places that don't? Anyway, how disappointing! Sad

OK, so we're going to have to run a chook raffle, folks, to get the funds for nimh's scanner! A very worthy cause!

Would European cartoonists be on the web under their own names? Or available online from the syndicate that handles their distribution?

I just Googled and found.....

Now, there's a thought, nimh! Maybe....?

Incidentally, I just followed Noddy's search prompt at Google & discovered, at investigating the 2nd cookie, that I was the 1 000 000th visitor to the site! A prize .. if I rang the the number (in the pop up) right away! Laughing Razz Cool

Of course that not your fault Noddy & I hold absolutely no malice.

Any sign of malice and your name goes to the A2K underwear advertising department. So there!

Not exactly immediately related - but I thought I'd share, since it's about comics, and it's about life... I met this cartoonist in India - they teach real people, you know, common folks from villages - how to draw cartoons. Then the villagers draw them on all sorts of social issues - from aids, through poverty, caste system, religion, environment... whatever. Wonderful stuff. check their website out:

Will a2k make underwear with our names on it? That's an interesting idea. Whose underwear you think would sell most? Craven's?

Shhhh, dag!
A while ago, any time I was called "Olga"in a post, it appeared as one of those dratty underlined ads. ... which linked one to Olga underwear! Sad
Quite got me down, that did! I think Noddy might have been threatening me with more of the same!

Sorry dear.

I'm sure it's just an American thing but in order to capture "reality news" the stations are putting reporters out in dangerous hurricane conditions to "goose" the ratings.

I fear one will soon meet his demise.

The low value of a woman's life in some cultures is heartbreaking. Bravo for these cartoons.

Thank you, panz. Very Happy

I'm going to take a much longer look at the Indian cartoons tomorrow, dag, when I have more time. The ones I've seen so far look very interesting! ( I agree with panz.) But right now my eyes are feeling a bit tired & strained. Almost bed time, I think.
