Ah well .... Gallipoli is sort of an Oz "scared site", panz. Famous Oz landing on Turkish soil in WW1. A massacre, actually. A very flawed British generals' manoeuver. It's become an incredibly popular Oz travel destination recently. Something to do with young Oz folk embracing the history of their grandparents & great grand parents & seeing them as brave heroes (though they were defeated badly in this case - a blood bath.) The dawn service at Gallipoli has become something of a mecca for Oz backpackers & others.
It's been painful, excruciating to observe, pan .... from the other side of the planet, even. <sigh>
