Hello again Don77!!

I've followed all your instructions again.. when I got to deleting the thirdfourbows.exe file, it would not let me delete it again! (Said it could be "write protected" or whatever!) (I was still able to delete the other file related to it though.)

I tried to use my own initiative and see if I could see it running in task manager under processes.. but I didn't see anything called Thirdfourbows there Embarrassed

I still rebooted, and here are the logs for HJT and Silent Runners:

OK,
Download Pocket Killbox from. Here Paste the full file path (c:\docume~1\shveta\applic~1\defyth~1\Thirdfourbows.exe ) in the box and click on Delete on Reboot. Next click on the button with the red circle and an X in the middle. You will get a message saying "File with be deleted on next reboot, Process and Reboot now?" Click "Yes" and post a new log from silent runners please when you have rebooted.

Looks like we got it that time,
Please disable System Restore,
How to turn off or turn on Windows XP System Restore

Disable system restore then enable it, that will get rid on the infected file RAV found,

Give it a bit of time and let me know if anything comes back,

Hey.. I hope someone is still available to help me!!

I'm getting problems again with my computer, and it seems to be about the spyware thing again.. (why do people invent spyware in the first place?!grr!!)

Following is my HJT Log. The problems I've been having is, although my internet connection looks like it's connected properly, when I open IE, it says "Page cannot be displayed".. and Mozilla Firefox does not open any pages either and basically.. ARGH!! This keeps happening on and off.. and I've recently run ad-aware to find A MILLION new things in the space of a day literally! and basically anything like messenger does not log on.. (As the last time I ran a scan was yesterday!)

So I hope someone can see something in this log that can offer a more permanent solution!! Would be very, very grateful! :$

Hi again MissP
Looks like you landed yourself a couple nasty buggers here,

Need you to do a few things please,
First,
Run this tool
Reboot the computer,
Next,
Reboot to safe mode,
Please restart HJT put a check next to the following, close all open windows and click "Fix Checked"

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CPQHotkeys] hotkeysvc.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ATIUpdater] atiupdxx.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [O1eXm0Xo] C:\WINDOWS\lojucm.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [tF9Q3nj] spnnfiles.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IST Service] C:\Program Files\ISTsvc\istsvc.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [CPQHotkeys] hotkeysvc.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [ATIUpdater] atiupdxx.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [ATIUpdater] atiupdxx.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [CPQHotkeys] hotkeysvc.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [coq4RhH9l] spdsrv.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\RunServices: [CPQHotkeys] hotkeysvc.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\RunServices: [ATIUpdater] atiupdxx.exe

Make sure you can view all Hidden Files/Folders search for and delete the files highlighted in BOLD

atiupdxx.exe
hotkeysvc.exe

C:\WINDOWS\lojucm.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\spnnfiles.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\spdsrv.exe
C:\Program Files\ISTsvc\istsvc.exe <--Delete Folder

Restart your computer,
Please run these two online scans. Make sure they are set to clean automatically:

TrendMicro's HouseCall
ActiveScan

You should try to delete any files that these scanners are unable to clean. Then let us know if its working better and what the scans found.

Then scan again with HijackThis and post another log

Hey!

I followed all your instructions, apart from TrendMicro's HouseCall, which would not let me scan (it said I need an English or Chinese browser or something Confused as far as I know my browser is English!). Also the Panda active scan.. As it was taking so long to do, I went to uni for 2 hours, came back to find it frozen on finding 75 files infected. I don't what files though Confused

ERM!!

Here's the updated log:

Hmmmm .... excuse me for buttin' in here, but mebbe I can offer some interim help (and since Don77 is already on this one, please feel perfectly free to wait for his opinion before followin' my advice). You should prolly disable any antivirus and/or antiyuckware apps you normally have runnin' before tryin' to use any online scans - there can be conflicts. If you're on dialup, the online scans can take a very long time to download and complete, BTW. Also, its generally a good idea to disable antivirus and antiyuckware apps while runnin' any "fixes", and, unless advised to the contrary, to run fixes while not connected to the 'net.

Anyhow, ya might wanna try this:

As this process will involve repeatedly connectin' and disconnectin' from the 'net, you might wanna print out these instructions.

Download, then disconnect from the 'net and run, with any antivirus/antiyuckware disabled, STINGER ( http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger ) , followin' all instructions to the letter. When it has completed, reconnect to the 'net, download, then disconnect from the 'net and run, WITH NO BROWSERS OR OTHER WINDOWS OPEN, Cleanup ( http://cleanup.stevengould.org ) and then reboot. Note: Cleanup may take a good long while to run, particularly if your temp files have never been cleaned, or if its been a long time since they last were cleaned. If it does seem hung up after a couple hours or so, close it, reboot into safe mode, and run it again. Remember, it can take a long, long time.)

Next, boot normally, connect to the 'net, and run the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool ( http://www.microsoft.com/security/malwareremove/default.mspx ), again, reading and following all instructions, and with WITH NO OTHER BROWSERS OR OTHER WINDOWS OPEN and with any antivirus/antiyuckware disabled. For this, you should remain connected to the 'net and run the tool directly from the Microsoft page. When done, reboot.

Next, reconnect to the 'net and download, update, and configure Microsoft Antispyware[/i][/u] ( http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx ), once again readin' and followin' to-the-letter all instructions. Disconnect from the 'net, and run a full system scan.

Next, assumin' your Norton Antivirus subscription is current, reconnect to the 'net and manually update your Norton Antivirus ( http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nav.nsf/pfdocs/1998082013035306?Open ). Typically, new pattern files via LiveUpdate are available weekly, every Wednesday. To obtain the most-current-as-of-present-day-of-the-week files, use the manual update method. When that has been completed, disconnect from the 'net, reboot into safe mode, and run a full system scan. Reboot when completed, and run Cleanup again (it should go a bit faster the second time around), and reboot.

Now, go to Start>Settings>Control Panel>Internet Options, and on the "Security" tab, click on each zone icon in turn and set that zone to "Default" if it is not already set that way. Close any open browsers (there shouldn't be any open anyway), connect to the 'net, and try Housecall again - FOLLOWING THE INSTRUCTIONS TO THE LETTER, then procede with the rest of the instructions Don77 offered earlier.

If you do decide to try this, please post back here and let us know what happened when you've gotten through it - or what you were able to complete, if you run into more problems. If you run into any error messages, please report what triggered each, if any, and exactly what that/those messages were.

Also, I notice you're running HJT from your Desktop - it should be run directly from your root drive-the drive on which Windows resides (usually "Local drive C:\"). I'd suggest you set up a folder on your root drive specifically for HJT (Open "My Computer", select your root drive, open it, go to"File", select "New" > "Folder", name the folder somethin' like "HJT", and drag HJT from your Desktop into the new folder you've just made.

If any of this is unclear, please let us know, and we'll do our best to sort it out for you. Don't try to complete a step if you don't understand what and how to do what is entailed. And, if you've disabled your antivirus and/or antiyuckware apps at any point, remember to re-enable them before doin' any general web browsin', instant messagin', online chattin', or email checkin'.
