Wow, that was like really random and doesn't appear to have anything to do with the plot which they sort of implied with the something strange going on. Never would have gotten that one in a million years. Sure glad to move on to a new one.

i thought once the solution was out we would all be banging our heads against the wall for not seeing something so obvious - so i am actually glad it was a tough one. no regrets there

In the Faeries' Ruin plot, there have been 2 Battledome phases: Wraiths and Spectres. For all the users that killed at least one Wraith or Spectre, what was the average number of total kills? Please round to the nearest multiple of five. For example, if the average was 43.2, you'd submit the answer "45".

This one seems kinda easy in theory, but I'm not sure how one would be able to find out how many users killed at least one Wraith/Spectre.

unless there is some way of knowing how many people participated in the BD, this is a guessing game

that is over 1 million. I dont think the average person killed over a million monsters

agreed -- and there really is no math of way of proving a correct answer for this one.

things to consider -- how many people don't BD, and did maybe one of each just to participate in the plot?
how many people Tried to cap each of them, and simply hit a wall?
how many people capped and quit?
how many people just went Crazy-Wild with it? -- i've seen reported on the boards of kills in the 1,000s

i feel like there were a few people with tons of kills, and lots of people with just a few. -- how you want to guess that averages out is up to you.

Those are some good points. And you can make a guess on how many people are participating in the plot based on the number of active users (which is shown on Neopets' front page), taking into consideration the different time zones and such.

Along those lines, I checked the random poll questions to see if there was a Faerie's Ruin plot participation question, but no luck.

I didn't participate in the plot, so I don't really know what was normal.

no. i don't think so. I, being a COMPLETE newbie at the battledome 9i can barely beat inflatable balthazar) and i beat, like, 20+ monsters.

I am just gonna put down how many I beat. Whatever I guess will be just as wrong.

No I don't think so. If you managed to cap all of the monsters, you would have killed 360 monsters. There were people who stopped after they reached the caps, people who kept killing long after they reached the caps, and people who weren't able to reach all of the caps.

Dont forget the people who didnt even try to cap!

With about 11575466 (69, if you sum up the individual kills) monsters killed, if each player only killed 3, that would mean there are 3,858,489 people battling. I don't think there are even that many players playing Neo, let alone the plot.

Also, you need to round to nearest multiple of 5.

I guessed that there are about 50,000 people playing the plot, which comes up to 231.5 kills average, rounded down to 230. Its really just a guessing game, but you can at least make it a good guess.

Answer: 150

I was pretty close too, but I didn't get it either. I wonder how many people actually managed to guess correctly...

So with an answer of 150, between 75900 and 78500 people participated in the battledome portion of the plot. (Rounded to the nearest 100 on either end and with the caveat that participation involves killing at least 1 spectre or wraith.)

I'm planning on remembering that range for possible future questions.
