New Lenny Question:

In all of Year 9, how many total Neopoints were awarded in the Lenny Conundrum?

Now it says, "The current prize for the first 250 correct entries is a Chia Sticky New Year Cake. You will also get a cool trophy that people can see when they do a user lookup on you! And all correct entries will split the 2,000,000 Neopoint prize pool." And each contest lasts a week, it can't be as easy as the number of weeks in a year X the 2,000,000 is it? that sounds too simple and I know I have to missing something.

About a week late, are you? It's always announced in New Features when a new one's posted.

A quick note about the last week's worth of posts:

According to Neopets Terms of Service, discussing the answers to a contest is not itself cheating. In fact, it's not even mentioned.* "Cheating" by TOS terminology is using programs to play the games for you [something that, unfortunately for the actual LC cheaters, isn't possible with the LC]. Technically speaking, you are cheating yourself to just look off someone else's paper, but there is no way to prove that someone has cheated in answering a LC correctly. If I get the correct answer, they can't say, "Oh, Jen Aside is on Able2Know, so she must have gotten the answer from there! Let's freeze her!" because that's not my username on the Neopets, nor is my e-mail for each the same.

What they can and WILL do is freeze/suspend anyone giving out the answers--or fake answers--on the Neoboards, because it's well within their jurisdiction to do so. However, there is no way to police this same activity outside of Neopets itself, which is why going off-site to chat with other Neopians is actively discouraged.

*I do realize the LC itself says it "is against the rules" to give out the answer or very clear hints, but again, this is still something they can't completely police, especially when non-Neopians are dragged in as happens here. In fact, since it's so easy to impersonate a Neopian off-site, it's highly unlikely they will freeze someone purely on the basis of "gave out contest answer off-site." There's just too much to monitor on Neopets itself without getting into the rest of the Internet.

I would get into my "Year X" is different from "Neopets is X years old" bit again, but y'all really just need to start reading previous posts.

This is in response to Lukas1988's post a few days ago and his spreadsheet.
I haven't gone through all the math yet, but I wanted to bring to your attention the May 31st posting.

Quote:
A new Lenny Conundrum competition has begun.
The answer to last week's was 52360.
4506 people guessed the correct answer earning themselves 444 NP each.

Except for a few random lucky people that lucked out and got even more Neopoints, and an extra prize, too.

I don't know if you guys already mentioned this, but I don't know how to account for this extra variable. Hopefully, they omit it from their answer.

I've gone through and run it through a spreadsheet.
My answer matches that of darkwarrior1234 and Lukas1988.

Here's a link to my spreadsheet.
It seems to match Lukas1988's spreadsheet.

You know, I might be completely wrong, but hasn't neopets only been out for 8 years?
It's just so close to the new year, I thought they may think up a question like this, so I answered 0 (Zero).
(It says down the bottom, Neopets(c)1999 - 2007)
so there you go

You might be right.

This is one of those 'I can't wait to see who is right'-conundrums *L*

Congratulations! You have guessed correctly in the Lenny Conundrum game (round 244). You have won 945 NP!

Because you were in the first 250 to guess correctly, you also have been awarded a Chia Sticky New Year Cake, and receive a trophy and the Lenny Conundrum avatar!

Yours Sincerely,
The Neopets Team!

Man, they are really taking their time today, huh?

I've just written the editorial staff at The Neopian Times, asking if they could release it earlier as a consideration to us in other timezones - it's 2:16 AM here..

Who knows with TNT? Communication is always poor from their end. Who even knows if they will update the news today? I am sure everyone will rush to their defense but I get fed up with a multi-million dollar corporation that can't meet deadlines.

Neopets communication
Talking about communicating with neopets admin team, would like to post a question which I know is not relevant to the upcoming LC discussion but I hope someone could enlighten me.. Re the absence of getting the trophy, etc upon completion of the Altador plot, enquiries have been submitted to TNT numerous times by many fellow neopians including yours truly but till todate, have not receive any other feedback except for 'we'll look into it'! Are there any others on this forum facing the same problem?

Thank you in anticipation of a reply.

I know it's a big company, and they're probably very, very bussy all the time, but they certainly are quick to freeze people for minor offences and also very good at refusing to return frozen accounts when the owner is not at fault - you'd think, just THINK, they'd put a LITTLE of that same time into caring for the relationship with their users and, in some cases, paying customers, when they have legitimate questions and/or problems.

Like the person above me not getting his/her trophy for a completed plot - come on! People spend their time and money on this, especially on plots, and 'they'll look into it'??

I feel more and more like Neopets is not a fun site, but just another moneymaking machine run by people who don't care. It kills all the fun of it. It's such a shame.

To greyjunior
Not sure I can help you. I finished the Altador Plot (misspelt is not my user name) about 1 week ago and got all prizes, trophy, sidebar and avatar with no glitches.
I know TNT are atrocious at responding to neomails/emails.
My whole family - 4 accounts - were frozen over 6 months ago for supposedly being 1 user, using multiple accounts. We started up on sides, they were frozen too. So 8 accounts (worth about 10 million np from the original mains, with painted and LE pets, and many trophies) GONE. Only I play now, my 3 children are too wary to lose any more "beloved" pets. I have snail mailed birth certificates twice (no fax number was available - which begs the question, what planet are you on TNT?), many many letters, emails, neomails - just ignored by TNT. AND I am a premium user, pay real money plus real money for purchases from the NC mall.
So, they are a law unto themselves. All I can suggest is neomail them daily.

It really is too much. It truly is 'the big company treading on the little guy'-scenarios. I was hacked at school and frozen, because clearly I was lying - even though I also pay to be a member.
It almost killed my 'will' to rejoin, but, alas, I did. A friend talked me in to it.

But your deal was worse, and I could easily face the same as I live in a dorm-type apartment; we share the internet uplink. If someone else uses Neopets - which the odds are someone does, there are over 200 rooms all in all - and they see the accounts, who's to stop them freezing us all and not give us our accounts back? If I get frozen again for something I didn't do, I'm not going back.

And now, I'm going to bed. It's now past 3 AM, so F them and their dumb LC =p I'll check it out tomorrow morning.

Good luck to those still waiting =)

Thank you for the responses.. Yes, it seems current players of the plot do receive all rewards but I finished mine about half a year ago as did many others who at that time was posting this problem on the neoboard constantly and as for me, wrote to them at the editorial too but to no avail.. Just a week ago, as 2007 was ending, wrote them again to the extent of asking if I need to the plot all over again (which would be agony especially the water plant part!!) but again no reply.. sigh!
