What about 40% (.4) times 31416, then multiply that by 7300? Does that work?
Oh, and I don't know if it's a clue or not, but 31416 is pi rounded up (pi is approximately 3.14159).
every day the fish is lowest than the previous day
I used a decay formula which is:
original amount * (1-rate of decay)^time= amount after time
substituting numbers gives:
31416*.6^7300=
31416*146000=
4586736000
It would be nice if it was right but it just seemed too easy.
'Kay, I got my answer submitted.
I already have the avatar, but it's fun to make it tougher for others.
TKIWAK, it depreciated by a rate of .4, not .6
I submitted my answer too! =)
Have the avatar - trying for first place trophy...
TKIWAK, using your formula (which I have no idea is right or not) shouldn't you be using .4 instead of .6?
I wouldn't have any idea how to figure such large numbers on my dinky calculator. Use Excel...
I don't understand the mean of ^
blackwidow828,can you post your result?
it is one minus rate of decay giving you .6
the^ means raised to the power of

That would be cheating. =o
I'd like a first place trophy too, I've got the second place one right now.
Sorry kerosino I've already established on this board that I don't give out answers, but I am willing to help with the thought process and giving out hints.
TKIWAK, I think you may be confused - read the prompt again. It says every day she catches 40% of the previous day's catch, so what you are calling the rate of decay should be 60%, no?
Desmene - I've been trying to figure out how to get 1st place - do you know?
turn that into a decimal and it becomes .6

Well, I imagine it's just how quick you get it, maybe the first 100 or something get first place?

That would be pretty stupid, they're only making the prize less valuable.
blackwidow828 - you have to be in the first 250 to submit the correct answer, in order to get a first place trophy for your lookup, I think
