Hello there. Ive been attacked by some weird spy thing, BROADCAST PC is called. Im goofing around in the computer and suddenly, out of nowhere, the Media Player opens and starts displaying commercials or trailers.

Its really annoying. I ran spybot, adware, I upgraded WNP to the 9 version, I've deleted the bcpc.exe and some other files, but I cant get to the root of the problem!

Has anyone heard of this one?

Please run through the steps outlined in this Post

Post back a HJT log and lets see if any other crap is running on your system.

I just finished downloading all the software for the operation.

But when I ran Ad-Ware SE, a minute after the Blater Virus appeared! The computer was to be resetted within a minute.

I guessed it was a strange coincidence, so I logged in again and ran the program while I was searching for the Blaster fix (I did download it once!, long time ago before I even had the infection). The reboot screen reappeared.

After that, I logged in again and just downloaded and ran the fix. I thought everything would be allright, but after a reboot I ran the program, and again!

Ill try it once more just for kicks...

Ok will do, I was in a very stressfull situation!

Analyze this, its my birthday. My computer can connect to the internet, but something blocks all communication! I can play xbox live, but the PC cant do nothing.

Seems that I have the sasser worm... I'm downloading all sorts of tools. I definetely will post the log after this, but since im in a friend's house, I wont be able to post it unless I copy the files or something.

Wish me luck man!

Thanks!

Well, we took extreme measures. After some virus scanning, spyware searching and security updating, the sasser worm went undetected. Maybe it wasnt that one specifically, but it was a virus indeed. We (a friend and I) just formatted the c: drive. Time to prevent all this from happening though!

Im installing Norton 2005 and AdWare SE, what else do you recommend?

Download the following programs, For keeping crap off your system to begin with
Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests. Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox. Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.
Download Spyware Blaster and SpywareGaurd
Check for updates after you install them, And check weekly as well
Keep Ad-aware and Spybot handy, Check them for updates and run them weekly
Same with your Anti Virus,

Be sure and give the Temp folders a cleaning out now and then as well, Make sure after you clean your Temp files to empty out your Recycle bin as well.

Remeber to Check Windows for updates
