It would be a smart move if they make Halo 3. My friend said that there porobably would be since not all the halos in Halo 2 is destroyed?

well, the big rumour is, that the launch game for the next xbox is something called halo 2.5

"OXM was the first to report about Halo 2.5 revealing that the game is planned as an Xbox 2 launch title but now you're going to read the very first details, straight from one of our most trusted sources:

"Halo 2.5 will be an Xbox 2 launch title and is going to run in HDTV resolution with new, improved textures and graphical effects. All the stuff that people expected from Halo 2 but didn't make the cut will be there."

Although our source didn't specify which HDTV resolution the game will run at, HDTV's lower spec is enough to get excited. Can you imagine Halo 2 running at 1280x720?!!! We also wonder what was meant by "all the stuff people expected from Halo 2 but didn't make the cut." With this kind of top-secret info, you don't ask; you simply listen. We cross our fingers that this will include online co-op, more multiplayer maps, and the final conclusion to the Halo 2 story.

"The technology that powers Halo 2 has been designed from day one to take advantage of the next generation hardware," the insider added. "In Halo 2, the Xbox was pushed to its limits but now the game will reach new heights with the advanced hardware."

But that is not the only info our insider had for us as soon after he dropped the bomb:
"Now, here is the twist. Halo 2.5 will come preloaded with the optional HDD. It'll be one of the two reasons to get the Xbox 2 that comes with a hard drive. The other reasonÂ… well, you'll just have to wait"

Sounds crazy to us but that's what we have been told. Interestedly, if this is true, the rumor confirms the existence of, at least, two editions of the Xbox successor. Last month, we reported about the supposed Microsoft plan to release three versions of the Xbox successor. Although never in console history has an add-on sold enough to represent a large percentage of the install base, the inclusion of Halo 2.5 would probably sell millions of hard drives and/or other peripherals that includes this special edition."

They better have a Halo 3 because number 2 was disappointingly short and felt unfinished when you finish it

BUT THREE story lines.. i mean come on man... this game was awesome... just plan awesome...

From what I've heard, the ending of HALO 2 really, really left it open for a third HALO. Everyone I've asked about it was really disappointed with the ending, because it wasn't an ending. It just kind of... Stopped.

Besides, it's been selling so well. Why wouldn't they make a third one? I think that they'll release it on the new X-Box system.

Well, it takes years to come out with another full installment of the title, rather than make something like "Halo 2.5", which would be like an "expansion pack" of Halo 2.

It'd be on the new Xbox system and have all the major gameplay features of Halo 2, only this time with some new features and the ever elusive ending.

Not saying there won't be a Halo 3 (in fact, I think there has to be one, since even an ending on Halo 2 doesn't lead into the obvious adventure that awaits afterward). But it seems logical to debut the new Xbox system with a "Halo 2.5", which will easily jumpstart the sales of it.

Oh, and 00 Agent Kid, shave your mustachio. Wink

It may take a lot of time to create an entirely new game but if you look at recent film event there are some hints as to why it took so long to create Halo 2.

The release ate kept being put back and back. it seemed to take ages to release a game that didnt appear big enough to warrant to extended time.

However if you consider how the film The Matrix sequels were released you can start to get suspicious. They spent ages filming the movies then released them within 6 months of each other.

Maybe bungie and Microsoft caught on to this idea and will be releasing the final installation to the Halo series soon (Feb 8th, as many have speculated) which is why they left it with such a cliffhanger.

This is only speculation and guess work so don't take it as gospel but it's definately a possibility

concerning halo 2.5
I was surprised when Halo 2 came out and did not include such things as ATVs, the other different kinds of warthogs, and many other features. Bungie claimed that they just couldn't have been worked into the game, but I think no one would say no to Halo 2.5. Hence a large marketing oppurtunity for Bungie. Just sayin...

Halo 3 is guaranteed by the plotline. The question is what that plotline is going to be. The Prophet of Truth has just entered Sol on a Forerunner ship with John-117 aboard trying to kill him. The Covenant have been decimated, split in half and there only world compromised to the Flood. I am sure the siege of Earth has been renewed and is continuing, but after that, there aren't many Covenant left. There are still 3 Spartans other than John up and about, but Halo 2 didn't even mention them. Colonel Ackerson wasn't mentioned, he is most definetly a potential enemy. And the possibility of the Gravemind corrupting Cortana creates new possibilities. Nevertheless, it is still difficult to comprehend how they are going to take such a complex storyline into a video game.

What I want is a Halo 1.5 multiplayer and a Halo 3 single player. There are 7 Halos in total I believe, 1 has been destroyed, and Delta Halo from Halo 2 has been compromised.

The reason why there was no ATV is because it served no combat purpose, it didn't feel right in the game. The same goes for the larger variety of Warthogs that was foretold for Halo 2.

Halo 2 was awesome, but without a starting weapon that allowed a skilled player at least a chance against any other weapon (The Halo 1 Pistol) the multiplayer game is severely imbalanced, with the SMG being very incapable against almost any dual combo, or larger weapon. In Halo 1, even if you were in the same bunker as a guy with a Shotgun, you could still win if you were good enough because of the 3 shot kill, or grenade and head shot. The same went for someone who just respawned with a Pistol going up against any opponent. This way Halo 1 was decided more by skill then who got what first, as is not the case in Halo 2 at all. The campaign is also a little inferior.

I believe that if the campaign mode of Halo 2 is any indication of Bungie's 'book plot becoming a video game' skills they have along road ahead to make Halo 3 accurate to the book. I also believe they might be rushing something from the Halo department in order to have a launch game for xbox2 (do later this year).
