well tommorrow I'll be getting in the car at 6am and begin watching movies on my long annual christmass road trip to the family...after doing it for so many years it doesnt seem so long but this will be the first time I have anythign to watch on the way...
I've got season 3 of Seinfield, legends of the fal (both sure hits) and Titus...which I havent seen...but hopefully will be good. what did you guys think of Titus?
Titus is very gor  y.....the perfect road movie!
"Titus" is revisionist Shakespeare -- his first play, if I'm not mistaken. Strong performances and an aesthetically striking production design make it all worth it. Not nearly as good as "Richard III" with Gandalf!
I didn't think the acting was very good :/ but I don't blame the actors, I blame the director for making it too much like a play where there is more verbal explanation of ones feelings than actual acting...theres no way they could possibly act realistically when they have to be reciting shakespeare!
There are many films including the upcoming "The Merchant of Venice" with Al Pacino where the actors have turned Shakespeare into believable historic drama. "Julius Caeser" is one of the vintage films that manages to translate Shakespeare to the screen with a realistic you-are-there result. "Titus" is not in the top ten of Shakespeare adaptations but it's not the acting nor the Shakespeare as much as the nearly over-the-top desire to turn the play into a Felliniesque surealist movie. Much more successful in the aforementioned "Richard III."
