So I finally got around to watching Monsters Ball (and no, I'm not sure where to put the apostrophe so I just left it out). Yes, I have been living under a rock for the past few years.
Overall rather depressing. I was already opposed to the death penalty, so nothing new for me there. Halle Berry did give a great performance, But - she's just too good-looking for her role to be believable. She'd have guys lining up around the block wanting to pay off her mortgage for her...
My question is: what was the deal with the editing during the grief-sex scene, the cutting to hands in a bird cage? Did I miss something in the dialogue that would explain that?
It's a refinement of an old parable:
A bird in the hand (in a bird cage) is worth two in (Halle Berry's) bush.
Somehow, I'm not buying that...
