NO! Why not? it is a paperback, right? You could separate it quite neatly - and pop it in a cover - maybe with the back glued to some paper or whatever when it is finished!
it is a book - not an objet d'art!
1. Its not a paperback, paperback is still not available in the UK.
2. I am verrrrrrrrrrrrry senstive when it comes to my books.
If you like it when you glance into it, of course....
It is fun to discuss stuff!
I have his parent conceived - they are in Detroit- grandpa has just lost his job...how about that Ford company! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
Er...OK...don't know how else to put it......ok, don't cut it in half...

My huh ? was to this piece!!!
Oh. Just leting others reading Middlesex know how far I have got - not far, alas.
Cut a book in half, the horror!
Blasphemer.
I admit to tearing travel guides up into pieces. I travel verrrry light.
I WANT "SHINING HERO"!
I hadn't heard of it before your mention, Gautam. Looks good!
I dawdled too long and the library had given my precious reserved copy of "Middlesex" to someone else. Hmph. May just break down and buy it, though I so wish it was available in paperback.
I am particular about books, too. Especially hardbacks.
Soz, it is one of those books which makes me sniffle - actually I had been sniffling on the train today morning (my eyes were so red when I walked in, my secy asked me if I had an infection or something)
Oh Osso, my dear - I just LOVE travel books. I literally
devour them, it makes my trip so much longer and more
fun - because I spend SO MUCH TIME devoted to studying
where I'm going, where I'll be staying and what there is
to do, to see, where are the best places to eat - now you
REALLY don't want to take a chance every single night of
a trip, do you? I must admit, on our last trip to Maui, we
ate at a restaurant that was in none of the travel books,
but it was right on the west side of Maui, right on the
water, and there was such a big, beautiful full moon - so
we took a chance; Patty, my daughter Tracey, me, and
my darling little grandson, Jade Kalani - though he was
just a newborn then & now he is 6 and a half. I have
been away from Hawaii too long, I was looking at UBid,
you know where they have vacation packages that you
bid on?? Very very interesting. They have quite a few 4,
5, 6 or 7 day stays either on Oahu, Maui Or the Big Island
and one on Kauii, also. Includes air and hotel, condo or
whatever. We stayed almost a month when Jade was born
there... I found out the best places to snorkel, the best
places to go when it is hot. Though that NEVER happens
except in August maybe, when the tradewinds sometimes
come to a standstill. It did when we were there, and of
course - aside from the really big hotels - many of the
places don't have AC, because who needs it. The
weather is just so mild.... and it is SO beautiful. I also
plan ALL our trips. We did one that was all up the USA
east coast from Florida to E BoothBay Maine - stopping
along here and there to visit friends, family - friends
from AA, Alanon - it was way too much driving though.
It WAS a unique trip, and if I were younger, more
energetic and didn't DESPISE doing all the driving, I
would maybe do it again. Right now, I will be happy
to settle for 2 week stay in the Smoky Mtns later on
this spring. Gatlinburg TN - I already know like the back
of my own hand. Great little town and lovely people.
The Nat'l Park is gorgeous - I would love to get in a wee
trip BEFORE all the kids are out of school and then
another one, with my daughter, my grandson Jade, me
and my Pats, and my little almost 2 year old grandaughter
Madison. Good grief! How do I get to running on and on
What IS the book we are supposed to be discussing here??
I just found you all here, so I am way way behind.
PS Has anyone read Tuesdays With Morrie?
Or, The Fourth Hand (which I am just wrapping up)??
Hi, Babs, I think you read my mention of tearing travel books as a lack of concern for them. I have many. I not only love every minute of prereading for a trip, I read up on the place afterwards, sometimes for years. But, some of the times I travel, I need to travel light. My last, and who know, perhaps my l a s t , due to money, foray into Italy was a 29 day trip to photograph piazzas in 13 cities and I took one duffle bag, which included one black pantsuit (2 pairs pants with that), one pair of shoes, underwear, and long sleeved tees. A bit of this and that, and there you go. So, for thirteen cities in several regions of italy, I did tear guide books up. And typed lists...and photoreduced the lists.
And had a great time.
I guess I should mention, phew, that the pantsuit was washable, in its way.
Oops, I see I am out of Topic. Noose.
