Hi everyone,

We're discussing Fury over here; if you've finished it, or are just interested, stop on by!

What shall our next book be? I really really love this idea and feel a bit sheepish that "Fury", which was my suggestion, has proved a wee bit unpopular. Embarrassed I personally found it interesting and eminently discuss-able, but nobody seems to be able to finish the durned thing.

So, while my own interest is definitely toward new fiction ("Middlesex", for example), I'm MORE interested in getting a critical mass of people who have read the book and are ready to discuss it, and am therefore quite pliant and suggestible about which book we will read next.

Thoughts?

I would be happy with Middlesex, or Pi - but willing to be very accommodating.

Middlesex would be up there for me - largely cos I am continuing to be very financially challenged, and I have already bought it!

Thanks, Craven! (the first hit google.ca gave me on Middlesex + book gave me something about the geneaology club or something, in Middlesex County, Ontario - i knew that was wrong!)

Kinda, things will probably settle over the next 3 days. The last few weeks have been stressful.

That's good about settling.

ehBeth, here's our first discussion thread, with lotsa good "Middlesex" links. (If they're hard to find, an A2K search for "Middlesex" should do it.)

Er, folks - I may get booted off the net in the next few hours - I cannot afford to pay for my ISP renewal until next Thursday (it is 10.30 pm Thursday here now). They said they would try to let me stay online and pay next week - but weren't 100% sure it would work - so, if I should disappear, assume I am happy with any choice...!

(I feel like Tinkerbell waiting to see if the clapping worked!)

Not sure, Pueo - I was hoping we might get more people posting and get a bigger group for this book.

Any other ideas folks - nothing set in concrete - what do you think, Pueo - other folk....? Speak up - please!

Maybe these aren't the type of books you are looking for, but Alice Sebold's The Lovely Bones, or Donna Tartt's new novel, I think its called The Little Friend.
