I recently bought a 49cc Taotao 50 scooter to get me to and from work. However, one of the main roads I have to go down has a speed limit of 50 or 55 and I can only reach about 30-35, but taking an alternate route more than doubles the distance I have to ride. Am I legally allowed to ride on it? It takes me about 3 minutes to get through it on the way to work, and maybe 8 to 10 on the way back because on the way back there are no side roads parallel to it that I can use. I'm hazy on the rules behind it and when I called my DMV I had a person say yes and another say no. I live in Missouri. Thanks if you can help! I don't want a ticket.
@squeakers,
EDIT: The reason I ask this is because the speed limit actually changes a lot on this road I live next to (HWY-94) and when I look up speed limits online it fluctuates like 3 times between where I get on and when I get off of it (though I only remember seeing a sign that said 50 or 55mph though, I think).
@squeakers,
Check the road laws in your jurisdiction.
