I Saw the Dreams of the Man of La Mancha

Let me tell you of something odd -
The Man of La Mancha's quest was for God.

But his quest was not so odd by far,
For I too sought the unreachable star.

Whether he found God or not is for discussions endless,
Though I myself did find God, I lived La Mancha's dream, I guess.

But this in itself is still not the part that is odd
Throughout our life's fervent quest to find God,

He fought devils of his mind while I of my soul -
Both of us were mocked, we counted not toll.

An impossible dream did awaken in me,
Going where no man goes - set my soul free.

Covered with a scar, I bear his dream with reality,
Daily, hourly, for life, with no taint of falsity.

Marching into hell did La Mancha's man go,
He came back, so did I, witnesses can tell so.

A heavenly cause was his armor and sword.
The soul in my body, cool in hell, soared,

Towards the unreachable star seen from within,
The past is a haze - where did we begin?

Yes, he was an odd one, but here is more odd,
He was fictional, so they say, looking for God.

But I am not fictional, yet his dream I saw - no, lived!
The facts of my life prove his dream that I lived!

Yes, the Man of La Mancha was fictional, I sigh -
Oddly - if he was fictional - what am I?

Ever see the movie, "Brother Sun - Sister Moon"?

---As well as, "Romeo & Juliet"?

Try mixing them both, add a little spice called "The Bible" and you got it.....

Merry Christmas to you too, Letty.

No, TM. I have never seen "Brother Sun - Sister Moon". but I have seen several film versions of Romeo and Juliet, as well as reading the original by someone called Shakespeare. <smile>

Due to the major lack of any ability of communicating in or with other languages, I do not comprehend your seemingly cryptic answer.....sorry.
