Well, hey there, Yit. <smile> What a late riser we are today, buddy. Thanks for the golden oldie. Never see Rosemary that I don't think of George who did the perfect lip sync in O Brother.

Folks, can't find "Poor Little Yellow Bird" by Angela, but I did find out that there is a musical group called Dorian Grey. Somehow our studio pc won't allow me to find anything except those songs that are for sale.

Ah, well, listeners:

Fussing and fighting alone with our friends
Holding our breath and hoping it never will end
It's been long, long haul
We would be ducking and diving, a rise then a fall
Pretending the ups and the downs didn't matter at all
And we got it almost right
Well there were hundreds and hundreds of mumbling miles
Always a personal reason to cop or to smile
Now there's a green light

We came and we went, we went and we came
Slowly but surely we learnt that it wasn't a game
But it was a good clean fun
We were just second hand cars along with the rest
Holding our own and hanging on in with the best
Nothing comes easy

Drinking and thinking what we'd rather do
Nothing of any real interest is coming on through
Maybe we're all right now
But in the end does it matter, matter at all?
Scratching a living and having one hell of a ball
Nothing comes easy

Well, that song says it! Nothing comes easy. Rolling Eyes

a mr richard starkey had something to say about that

hmm, richard starkey, wasn't he better known by another name Wink

It Don't Come Easy
Richard Starkey

It don't come easy,
You know it don't come easy.

It don't come easy,
You know it don't come easy.

Got to pay your dues if you wanna sing the blues,
And you know it don't come easy.
You don't have to shout or leap about,
You can even play them easy.

Forget about the past and all your sorrows,
The future won't last,
It will soon be over tomorrow.

I don't ask for much, i only want your trust,
And you know it don't come easy.
And this love of mine keeps growing all the time,
And you know it just ain't easy.

Open up your heart, let's come together,
Use a little love
And we will make it work out better.

(ah -)
(ah -)
(ooh-ooh)
(ah-ooh-ooh)

Got to pay your dues if you wanna sing the blues,
And you know it don't come easy.
You don't have to shout or leap about,
You can even play them easy.

Peace, remember peace is how we make it,
Here within your reach
If you're big enough to take it.

I don't ask for much, i only want your trust,
And you know it don't come easy.
And this love of mine keeps growing all the time,
And you know it don't come easy.

This is the only Yellow Bird I know:

Yellow bird, up high in banana tree.
Yellow bird, you sit all alone like me.

Did you lady friend leave the nest again?
That is very sad, makes me feel so bad.
You can fly away, in the sky away.
Your more lucky than me.

I also had a pretty girl, she's not with me today.
They're all the same those pretty girls.
Take tenderness, then they fly away.
Yellow Bird, yellow bird.

Did you lady friend leave the nest again?
That is very sad, makes me feel so bad.
You can fly away, in the sky away.
Your more lucky than me.

Wish that I were a yellow bird, I'd fly away with you.
But I am not a yellow bird, So here I sit.
Nothing I can do.
Yellow bird, yellow bird.

Ringo Starr, dj? What a total surprise, folks.

Here's a companion piece from E.A. Robinson:

Edwin Arlington Robinson - Aaron Stark

Withal a meagre man was Aaron Stark, --
Cursed and unkempt, shrewd, shrivelled, and morose.
A miser was he, with a miser's nose,
And eyes like little dollars in the dark.
His thin, pinched mouth was nothing but a mark;
And when he spoke there came like sullen blows
Through scattered fangs a few snarled words and close,
As if a cur were chary of its bark.

Glad for the murmur of his hard renown,
Year after year he shambled through the town, --
A loveless exile moving with a staff;
And oftentimes there crept into his ears
A sound of alien pity, touched with tears, --
And then (and only then) did Aaron laugh.

Aaron was a jerk, right folks?

edgar, your bird call slipped right past me, Texas. <smile> Don't think that was the one our Angela sang, but that was so long ago.

Strange the incidents that occur together, folks. I put a picture of Oscar Wilde's home in the Where Am I section, and here he turns up in Raggedy's and Bob's celeb and bio input.

Time, listeners, for a look at the background on synchronicity:

Synchronicity
Synchronicities are people, places or events that your soul attracts into your life - to help you evolve or to place emphasis on something going on in your life.

The more 'consciously aware' you become of how your soul creates - the higher your frequency goes and the faster your soul manifests.

Each day your life will become filled with meaningful coincidences - synchronicities - that you have attracted - or created in the grid of your experiences in the physical.

There are no accidents - just synchroncity wheels - the gears of time - the wheels of time - the wheel of karma - wheels within wheels - the alchemy of creation - the Philosopher's Stone - Sacred Geometry=SG=StarGate - evolution of consciousness.

Do be careful. Not all synchronicities are positive. Sometimes these lead to learning lessons - when you are deceived ito thinking that is road to take at that moment in time. This is not always the case - so do be careful. If you are dysfunctional - a drama person - your will attract - manifest dysfunctional peole and evenst.

Synchronicities can also go nowhere as they just occur to make a point.

You must look at the bigger picture of the synchronicty - not the actual event. Look at the underlying facts when the synchronicity occurs to be sure you know why you attracted that person/ situation into your life.

For example - you meet someone who interests you and touches your soul. Through synchronicity - that person seems to come into your life over and over again. You begin to feel a destiny with that person. You begin to think with your heart instead of your head. You connect with that person. In some cases the karma between the two people is positive - but in many cases you have attracted that person into your life for a learning lesson whether you are aware of it or not.

You can consider an event synchronistic when an inner experience such as a dream, vision, or other form of deja vu prepares you for the physical event.

Listening to Marainne Faithfull just now ...

Past the café shutters down,
No one stirs in the town.
The morning after the rain
The barges move on the Seine.

Down the avenue lined with trees
Paris bells ring on the breeze
Paris bells ring on the breeze.

Dawn is breaking, birds start to sing,
Sun is rising, warms everything.
The echo of footsteps on a cobbled street,
Dim alleyways where the shadows meet.

Down the avenue lined with trees
Paris bells ring on the breeze
Paris bells ring on the breeze.

The places where we used to visit,
The chapel where we went to wed.
Paris bells on the breeze
Often stir memories.

We both knew the morning rain
We both wandered down the Seine.
Now you're gone away from me
You're just a memory
Like the bells ring on the breeze,
Paris bells ring on the breeze.

... Francis obviously has an offline weekend

Well, there's our Walter, listerners. What a lovely song, Germany. I was wondering about Francis myself, and here you pop up with a song to entice him back.

I've played this one before, folks, but it's worth a re play.

Where or When (a deja vu song)

When You're Awake
The things you think
Come from the dreams you dream
Thought has wings,
And lots of things
Are seldom what they see
Sometimes you think you've lived before
All that you live today
Things you do come back to you
As though they knew the way
Oh, the tricks your mind can play

It seems we stood and talked like this before
We looked at each other in the same way then
But i can't remember where or when
The clothes you're wearing and the clothes you wore
The smile you are smiling you were smiling then
But i can't remember where or when
Some things that happen for the first time
Seem to be happening again
And so it seems that we have met before
And laughed before
And loved before
But who knows where or when

It seems we stood and talked like this before
We looked at each other in the same way then
But i can't remember where or when
The clothes you're wearing and the clothes you wore
The smile you are smiling you were smiling then
But i can't remember where or when
Some things that happen for the first time
Seem to be happening again
And so it seems that we have met before
And laughed before
And loved before
But who knows where or when

Well, I'll be damned, dys. I started a thread on that same thing. Shocked

Are you a believer now? It happens to me all the time, especially recently.

It could be simply explained by observing that once we learn a new word, it appears everywhere, but I would rather believe that it's pre cognition. <smile>

Speaking of hoot, folks. Does an owl really hoot or say, who; who; who are you?

When I smoke a cigarette on the terrace late night, an eagle-owl [I never knew, how big such birds are, espeically when they pass you just some fet away!] flew through our backyard.
It definately made "oo-hoooh, oo-hoooh". (That's why it is named 'Uhu' = pronounced: 'oo-hooh' in German)

Oh, sorry. Just seeing this today.

I don't really know many lyrics to music, but I like to read what you folks write. Smile

I'm going to be working on the avatars today and produce another update this afternoon, I think.

Just wanted to say good morning to you all....

and Good morning to you, Reyn. We are all following your collage with pleasure and interest, my dear.

For you:

Montage

The day is approaching to give it your best
You've got to reach your prime!
That's when you need to put yourself to the test
And show us the passage of time
We're gonna need a montage (Montage)
A sports-training montage (Montage)
And just show a lot of things happenin' at once.
Remind everyone of what's goin' on. (What's goin' on?)
And with every shot, show a little improvement
To show it won't take too long
That's called a montage (Montage)
Even Rocky had a montage (Montage)

In any sport, if you want to go
From just a beginner to a pro
You'll need a montage (Montage)
a simple little montage (Montage)

Deja vu, Reyn? <smile>

How do I find the appropriate material, Reyn? I work like hell to do it, my friend. Razz

Thank you, dear Reyn.

If anyone can suggest to me why google no longer locates song lyrics, I would definitely appreciate it.

Was searching for the Dixieland song, "Mobile, Alabama" and nada, because I wanted to dedicate it to Walter and William Henry III.

See what I mean, Reyn?

Well, what do you know, folks. I found it:

MOBILE
(R. Wells / D. Holt)

They saw a swallow building his nest
I guess they figured he knew best
So they built a town around him
And the called it Mobile
Where's that?
Alabama

They took a swampland heavy with steam
They added people with a dream
And that dream became a heaven
By the name of Mobile

Pretty soon the town had grown
Till they had a slide trombone
And a man who played piano
And a swallow who sang soprano

No use you're wondring where you should go
It's on the Gulf of Mexico
Where the southern bells are ringing
And the climate's ideal
It's a honeysuckle heaven
By the name of Mobile
Where's that?
Alabama

Pretty soon the town had grown
Till they had a slide trombone
And a man who played piano
And a swallow who sang soprano

No use you're wondring where you should go
It's on the Gulf of Mexico
Where the southern bells are ringing
And the climate's ideal
It's a honeysuckle heaven
By the name of Mobile

The Ballad of the Soldier's Wife
Marianne Faithfull

What was sent to the soldier's wife
From the ancient city of Prague ?
From Prague came a pair of high heeled shoes,
With a kiss or two came the high heeled shoes
From the ancient city of Prague.

What was sent to the soldier's wife
From Oslo over the sound ?
From Oslo he sent her a collar of fur,
How it pleases her, the little collar of fur
From Oslo over the sound.

What was sent to the soldier's wife
From the wealth of Amsterdam ?
From Amsterdam, he got her a hat,
She looked sweet in that,
In her little Dutch hat
From the wealth of Amsterdam.

What was sent to the soldier's wife
From Brussels in Belgian land ?
From Brussels he sent her the laces so rare
To have and to wear,
All those laces so rare
From Brussels in Belgian land.

What was sent to the soldier's wife
From Paris, city of light ?
From Paris he sent her a silken gown,
It was ended in town, that silken gown,
From Paris, city of light.

What was sent to the soldier's wife
From the South, from Bucharest ?
From Bucharest he got her this shirt
Embroidered and pert, that Rumanian shirt
From the South, from Bucharest.

What was sent to the soldier's wife
From the far-off Russian land ?
From Russia he sent her a widow's veil
For her dead to bewail in her widow's veil
From the far-off Russian land,
From the far-off Russian land.

Well, dj, you got 'em all in there, Canada. Thanks, and a fantastic song it is as well.

Question for the day:

Can anyone from any of those counties in dj's song list cite the origin of the word blackmail?

Since both Weill and Brecht are German, I might answer your question, Letty, although my country is not mentioned in that song:

it has to do with tributes in Scotland ... <looking up now> ...

Quote:
Blackmail derives from the old practice of freebooting clan chieftains who ran protection rackets against Scottish farmers. If the farmers did not pay the mail, the chiefs would steal their crops and cattle. Mál is an Old English word meaning rent or tribute. The black either comes from the evil connotation of this practice, or from the fact that this "rent" was usually paid in goods, like cattle, as opposed to silver coin, known as white money.
