Oh, I forgot to add:
A thank you to Dys for the Tom Rush lyrics to "No Regrets". I love his guitar on that song. I saw him many years ago at a small club, and he was great and a real sweet guy, as was Don McLean who appeared at the same club shortly after.
A bit of an extension from Jelly Roll Morton by Mortiis:
Dancing round the burning fire.
Calling out the names of the dead.
Chanting all your dark desires.
As you stick your pins in my head.
Painted faces all around me.
Speak of things I don't understand.
Somebody's blood is on the ground.
My time is here, it is at hand.
Why do you use the old juju?
Why do you battle all them bones?
I'm telling you I'm not the one for you.
But still you throw the stones.
You put a hex on me.
In the middle of a circle.
Sits the one to fear.
Maker of all miracles,
The one I won't go near.
It's the doctor that is blind,
But still he'll cast the spell.
Don't ever look into this evil mind,
Unless you want to see his hell.
Wicked laughter fills the air.
Everyone is laughing at me.
Can't escape this trancelike stare,
He wants me to be blind like he.
Needles, nails and broken glass.
Incantations from the past.
I'm just a toy in this unholy mass,
Not the first nor will I be the last.
RaggedyAmos<smile> I can't believe that Jean Pierre is still alive. He was married to Maria Montez and when I was a kid, I watched all the Jon Hall Maria Montez movies. You don't happen to have those words, do ya?
Tom Rush wrote and performed one of the best (in my opinion) accustic solo guitar instrumentals I have ever heard "Rockport Sunday" He also did some Bo Diddley better than Bo Diddley"Who do you love"
Dys: I love Rush's "Rockport Sunday".
Letty: I saw all those Maria Montez, Jon Hall, Sabu movies, too. They never changed the dialogue - just their costumes. (lol) and I loved them.
I'm still waiting for Scheherezade to come back on TV so I can get those words. Yvonne DeCarlo was Scheherezade. Charles Kuhlman (SP?)(opera) was the vocalist.
aggie, you evidently have excellent taste (possibly as good as mine)

I'm still trying to find the special tuning Rush uses on Rockport Sunday....any ideas?I want to have it ready for when Dys comes down to hang out.
Never mind! I found it
BAND 10 on original LP
Open C tuning CGCGCE
very strange tuning...no wonder I couldn't play it.
Thanks WA2K
My word. Panz stretched the screen with that long necked guitar. He also said "Thank you, WA2K radio.". That message is gone now, but I feel it only proper to say, "You're Velcome".
From the staff and management here on the radio, both AM and FM.
Hmmm. Well if Panz wrote it, it must have been in disappearing ink.
Incidentally, Walter says that the Prince's family is mostly in Northern India, and some in New York. Thanks, Walter!
For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health;
1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
4. The Italians drink excessive amounts of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
5. The Germans drink a lot of beers and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
CONCLUSION:
Eat and drink what you like.
Speaking English is apparently what kills you.
Cause and effect, C.I.? Fantastic.
You failed to mention smoking. UhOh!
I had a call in who wanted to dedicate this song to Panz:
Shake Rattle And Roll
Shake Rattle & Roll
As Performed by Joe Turner
Written by Charles Calhoun
Get outta that bed, wash your face and hands
Get outta that bed, wash your face and hands
Well, you get in that kitchen, make some noise with the pots and panz.
Well, you wear low dresses, the sun comes shining through
Well, you wear low dresses, the sun comes shining through
I can't believe my eyes all that mess belongs to you
I believe to my soul you're a devil in nylon hose
I believe to my soul you're a devil in nylon hose
Well, the harder I work, the faster my money goes
I said, shake, rattle and roll, shake, rattle and roll
Shake, rattle and roll, shake, rattle and roll
Well, you won't do right to save your doggone soul
I'm like a one-eyed cat peeping in a seafood store
I'm like a one-eyed cat peeping in a seafood store
Well, I can look at you and tell you ain't no child no more
Ah, shake, rattle and roll, shake, rattle and roll
Shake, rattle and roll, shake, rattle and roll
Well, you won't do right to save your doggone soul
I said, over the hill and way down underneath
I said, over the hill and way down underneath
You make me roll my eyes, Baby, make me grit my teeth
I said, shake, rattle and roll, shake, rattle and roll
Shake, rattle and roll, shake, rattle and roll
Well, you won't do right to save your doggone soul
On April 28, 1954 while recording a version of Big Joe Turner's "Shake, rattle and Roll" with rewritten lyrics Haley tells a reporter "We stay clear of anything suggestive."
And another dedication to all you decadent, hedonistic folks:
Oh, once I was married and had a good wife.
I had enough money to last me for life.
I met with a girl and we went on a spree.
She taught me to smoke and drink whuskey.
Cigareets and whuskey and wild wild women.
They'll drive you crazy, they'll drive you insane.
Cigareets and whuskey and wild wild women
They'll dive you crazy, they'll drive you insane.
Mister jelly roll baker,
Can I please be your slave?
When Gabriel blows his horn,
I'm going to rise from my grave.
Oh yeah, sweet jelly roll;
You bake the best jelly roll in town.
You're the only man that bakes jelly,
And you keep your temper down.
They say: Can I place an order for three weeks ahead?
I'd rather have your jelly than my home-baked bread.
'Cause I'm just crazy about you jelly,
I'm so wild about your jelly roll.
You're the only man that bakes jelly
And you keep it in your soul.
I was locked up for murder in the first degree;
Judge's wife sent down and said: 'Let that boy go free,
He's my jelly roll baker,
Bakes the best jelly roll in town.
He's the only man that bakes jelly
that keeps his temper down.'
You can take all my women,
You kan sure keep them all:
I got a brand new secret,
That you can't catch on to at all:
I'm a jelly roll baker,
I bake the best jelly roll in town.
I'm the only man that bakes jelly
And I keep my temper down.
I'm the only man that bakes jelly and I keep my temper down;
I'm the only man that bakes jelly and I keep my temper down..
William Butler Yeats Visits Lincoln Park and Escapes Unscathed
By Phil Ochs
As I went out one evening to take the evening air
I was blessed by a blood-red moon
In Lincoln Park the dark was turning
I spied a fair young maiden and a flame was in her eyes
And on her face lay the steel blue skies
Of Lincoln Park, the dark was turning
Turning
They spread their sheets upon the ground just like a wandering tribe
And the wise men walked in their Robespierre robes
Through Lincoln Park the dark was turning
The towers trapped and trembling, and the boats were tossed about
When the fog rolled in and the gas rolled out
From Lincoln Park the dark was turning
Turning
Like wild horses freed at last we took the streets of wine
But I searched in vain for she stayed behind
In Lincoln Park the dark was turning
I'll go back to the city where I can be alone
And tell my friend she lies in stone
In Lincoln Park the dark was turning
Whoops I tuned in during Poets Corner. I just wanted to say I dig that stuff, man.
George Shearing now, he was a genius player. I believe he was the piano player on "Let there Be Love" by Nat King Cole, though of course Nat was well capable of playing too. George had a lovely style and one I admire greatly.
In that intro for "Let There Be You" I never unerstood why there is a key change just before the singer starts to sing; anyone listening have any ideas about that?

BBB !!! I am here and fine. I spoke to my friends in South India after the diaster and thank god they are all ok !!
Good morning, listeners. First let me say that I am delighted with the great songs that dys and edgar have played for us. Both are quite unusual and ones that are new to me.
BBB, Thank God our Prince and his family are all right. We were all concerned.
McTag, if Shearing played piano behind Nat, it's quite a surprise to me, and you are right. Nat was one great piano player in his own right. As for the key change, I would have to hear the song before I could comment, but that's often done as a display of the vocalist's ability to modulate or the piano player showcasing his talent.
Added note:
Nat Cole's "Unforgettable" is one of the few songs that goes to another key after the bridge.
A little song for the breakfast club...
My Eggs Don't Taste The Same Without You
by The Fabulous Farquahr
My coffee is cold, it's sitting there on the stove
My juice and my toast is there too
My heart's in a shambles, I can't eat my scrambles
My eggs don't taste the same with out you.
The chair where you sat, is occupied by the cat
I wish you had taken him too
I'm sitting here fried, you took my sunny side
My eggs don't taste the same without you.
No more good morning kiss
No more "I love you"
No more laughs how the dog bit
The paperboy kid
My wasn't that big news!
Now if you'll only come back, I'll even dig your damn cat
I'll let you wear your curlers too
I could do very nicely with your once over lightly
My eggs don't taste the same without you.
...Once over lightly...
My eggs don't taste the same without you.
