Well, Raggedy, I am one of those folks who sticks with the same old; same old.

Hmmm. Wonder if Europe is under the weather or just hiding out somewhere. Perhaps McTag has a hangover. UhOh!

Well, folks, it seems that Bernie and the Bear are doing all right. That's a relief.

Lots of news from all over:

HAMBURG, Germany (AP) - A Moroccan man accused of helping the Sept. 11 hijackers was convicted Friday of membership in a terrorist organization but was acquitted of direct involvement in the attacks on the United States.

After a yearlong retrial, the Hamburg state court sentenced Mounir el Motassadeq to seven years in prison for membership in the al-Qaida cell that included suicide pilots Mohamed Atta, Marwan al-Shehhi and Ziad Jarrah.

However, it acquitted him of more than 3,000 counts of accessory to murder, ruling the evidence did not show the 31-year-old was specifically involved in the Sept. 11 plot.

PARIS - A Romanian woman slipped into a choir of singing monks during an evening prayer service and fatally slit the throat of the 90-year-old founder of an ecumenical Christian community in the presence of 2,500 horrified pilgrims in Burgundy, authorities said Wednesday.

The slaying Tuesday of Brother Roger in the Church of Reconciliation drew reactions of shock and grief from the pope, the leader of the Anglican Church and worshippers around the world.

"It happened very fast. There were some screams. We turned around. He was wounded," said Brother Emile, who witnessed the killing. "We carried him out of the church so people didn't see the terrible part. ... She slit his throat."

Brother Roger was stabbed at least twice in the neck. Bleeding profusely, he died 15 minutes later in the community house, Brother Emile said.

Ah me, listeners. It seems that we are beset by troubles that even Chanel no. 5 can't help.

Well, my goodness, listeners. Walter slipped in here with a perfume decanter. What kind of perfume is in it, Germany?

Well, Francis. Here's a song by Joan Baez accompanied by a smile:

Joan Baez - Diamonds And Rust Lyrics

"Diamonds and Rust"
I'll be damned, here comes your ghost again
but that's not unusual
it's just that the moon is full
and you happened to call

And here I sit, hand on the telephone
hearing the voice I'd known
a couple of light years ago
headed straight for a fall

As I remember your eyes were bluer than robin's eggs
My poetry was lousy you said
Where are you calling from
A booth in the Midwest
Ten years ago I bought you some cufflinks
You brought me something
We both know what memories can bring
they bring Diamonds and Rust

Now I see you standing with brown leaves all around and snow in
your hair
Now we're smiling out the window of the crummy hotel over
washington square
Our breath comes out white clouds, mingles and hangs in the air
Speaking strictly for me
we both could've died then and there

Now you're telling me you're not nostalgic
then give me another word for it
you were so good with words
and at keeping things vague

cause I need some of that vagueness now, it's all come back too
clearly
yes, I loved you dearly
and if you're offering me diamonds and rust
I've already paid

But we both know what memories can bring
they bring Diamonds and Rust
yes we both know what memories can bring
they bring Diamonds and Rust

Diamonds, Diamonds and Rust
Diamonds, Diamonds and Rust
Diamonds, Diamonds and Rust
Diamonds, Diamonds and Rust

Oops. That must have been for Bob Dylan, Francis. <smile>

Let a smile be his umbrella. (Where have I heard that before?)

'Allo, folks. Sorry to be such an infrequent visitor to the sound studios here, but I do listen on my great big Atwater-Kent radio to your great broadcasts from time to time as time permits. The old 'puter seems to be working again after I've refigured and recovered and re-whatever it twice in one week. So perhaps I'll drop in more often. Ciao!

Seems to me that I heard you say, "...out damned Spot...." <giggles>

Hair - How can people be so heartless

How can people be so heartless?
How can people be so cruel?
Easy to be hard
Easy to be cold
How can people have no feelings?
You know I'm hung up on you
Easy to be proud
Easy to say no
Especially people
Who care about strangers
Who care about evil
And social injustice
Do you only care about the bleeding crowd?
How about a needing friend?
I need a friend
How can people be so heartless
How can they ignore their friends?
Easy to give in
Easy to help out
Especially people
Who care about strangers
Who say they care about social injustice
Oooaaooh
Do you only care about the bleeding crowd?
Oh-ohhh
How about a needing friend?
Ohhh, I need a friend
How can people have no feelings?
Oh, how can they ignore their friends?
Easy to be hard
Easy to help out
Easy to be proud
Easy to say no

I swear, I think some of my posts are going missing.

Maybe somebody out there has it in for me.

I did one about "Mr Tambourine Man"/ Holland

And earlier, one about Keats' poem "To Autumn"

Anybody seen them? In the last couple of days?

Puzzled- I've had a look.

Ah, Rex. I love that song, and although I don't eat ivy, I love it in music.

However, listeners. The hallowed halls of ivy are not "veritas" always, right?

Well, we're missing McTag. In vino veritas, Brit? <smile>

Ah, McTag. Perhaps it was the hamster that ate up Manchester that stole away your contributions. I know that it did mine.

Play it again, Sam. We want to know about the tambourine and early Autumn, right listeners?

Oh Susanna

I come from Alabama
With my banjo on my knee
I'm going to Louisiana,
My true love for to see

It rained all night
The day I left
The weather it was dry
The sun so hot,
I froze to death
Susanna, don't you cry

Oh, Susanna,
Oh don't you cry for me
For I come from Alabama
With my banjo on my knee

I had a dream the other night
When everything was still
I thought I saw Susanna
A-coming down the hill

The buckwheat cake
Was in her mouth
The tear was
In her eye
Says I, I'm coming from the south
Susanna, don't you cry

Oh, Susanna,
Oh don't you cry for me
For I come from Alabama
With my banjo on my knee

Ah, Rex. That song takes me back, honey. I think McTag is learning the banjo, too.

You know, listeners. I was searching for banjo songs to compliment Rex's melody and I came across this beautiful piece by Paul L.Dunbar:

The Meadow Lark.
THOUGH the winds be dank,
And the sky be sober,
And the grieving Day
In a mantle gray
Hath let her waiting maiden robe her,--
All the fields along
I can hear the song
Of the meadow lark,
As she flits and flutters,
And laughs at the thunder when it mutters.
O happy bird, of heart most gay
To sing when skies are gray!

When the clouds are full,
And the tempest master
Lets the loud winds sweep
From his bosom deep

Like heralds of some dire disaster,
Then the heart alone
To itself makes moan;
And the songs come slow,
While the tears fall fleeter,
And silence than song by far seems
sweeter.
Oh, few are they along the way
Who sing when skies are gray!

Isn't that lovely, listeners?

This song was written by Stephen Foster, and won the best sentimental song contest at Andrew's Eagle Ice-cream Parlor and Saloon in Pittsburg, PA., September 11, 1847.
