You know, C.I. I often think that we need more of the good with the bad. It seems that the weight is shifted in the wrong direction. Seeing the smiles on the faces of PEACE, no matter how temporary, is a shot in the arm of the saber rattlers.

"....peace I give unto you, not as the world giveth, give I unto you...."

You're always going to see
A sailor on the sea;
Not always on his shoulder
A gun upon a soldier;
But the mote in God's eye
Got to be a pilot in the sky.
He got bombs the size of Detroit
That he don't hesitate to deploy;
He don't hear the people's cries
Or see the pain in their fearful eyes.

out on the sea, there is an island
out on the sea, there is a place
out on the sea there's a wave
with the power to save
all the sailors from the dark and the deep

we used to dance in the shadows
under the moon's pale light
away from home and all alone
turning away into the night
and she would shine like a diamond

trapped in a clear crystal ring
and the tears in my eyes
were the stars in the sky
fading away when she would sing

out on the sea, there is an island
out on the sea, there is a place
out on the sea there's a wave
with the power to save

all the sailors from the dark and the deep

edgar, that was yours, was it not? sad and real.

dys, I can never tell whether that is you or some song that is you.

My friends, WA2K is reaching out.

To Germany
To Norway
To Austria
To Thailand
To Sweden
To Denmark
To England
To Canada
To China

To those in undiscovered places,
Lost in warps that have no traces,
Sweeping islands
Land locked tides
No man's land
On dreaded side

We wait--we wait--we wait

I confess; it's my latest entry in Spontaneous poems.
I think I shall never see
A poem like edgar writes
Oftens sucks you see
But occasionally bites

This is only a test. Had it been a real emergency, you would have been given explicit instructions.

Happy 2005 WA2K listeners

My computer was very slow today, too. I need to get a new one with go-faster stripes and a lowered suspension.
Just tuned in to the radio, Letty, and my request is anything by Blossom Dearie or Tom Waits.

Oh, and a very happy new year to anyone who knows me (and most of those who don't.)

Looking back on 2004 and my a2k experience I note that the powers that be have found that I have no future here (and even less of a past)--No Latin (to speak of) less Greek and I flunked symbolic logic serval times, linguistic analysis twice and arts and crafts three times. It has been suggested to me that I seek extended activities in sanitary engineering or, perhaps, shoe repair. Vote Kuninich in 05!!! your friend Dyslexia.(sleep late and prosper in 05)

Up, up and away, edgar.

McTag, Hey, buddy. Glad to have you tuned in. Let's see--Tom Waits and Blossom Dearie? I'll have to rummage through the bin and see what file it's in. Razz

Nice to have a Brit on board.

Sanitary engineering, dys? I understand that they make more money than politicians in some areas.

Here's a nice one from 1951 by Les Paul and Mary Ford.

Dear one the world is waiting for the sunrise
Ev'ry rose is covered with dew
And while the world is waiting for the sunrise
My heart is calling you

Dear one the world is waiting for the sunrise
Every little rose bud is covered with dew
And my heart is calling for you
The thrush on high his sleepy mate is calling
And my heart is calling you

Sanitary engineer? When I lived in Brooklyn I was informed that it required 2 yrs college to be considered for that job.

Ah, edgar. The World is Waiting for the Sunrise, was the first song that I learned to play on piano with complete chords, in Bflat, no less.

And here's a song for McTag that's perfect to compliment the sunrise:

Drunk on the Moon

Tight-slacked clad girls on the graveyard shift
'Neath the cement stroll
Catch the midnight drift
Cigar chewing charlie
In that newspaper nest
grifting hot horse tips
On who's running the best

And I'm blinded by the neon
Don't try and change my tune
'Cause I thought I heard a saxophone
I'm drunk on the moon

And the moon's a silver slipper
It's pouring champagne stars
Broadway's like a serpent
Pulling shiny top-down cars
Laramer is teeming
With that undulating beat
And some Bonneville is screaming
It's way wilder down the street

(Chorus)

Hearts flutter and race
The moon's on the wane
Tarts mutter their dream hopes
The night will ordain
Come schemers and dancers
Cherry delight
As a Cleveland-bound Greyhound
And it cuts throught the night

And I've hawked all my yesterdays
Don't try and change my tune
'Cause I thought I heard a saxophone
I'm drunk on the moon

by Tom Waits

Thanks, Raggedy. I can remember calling him X avier. Barry Goldwater was one funny man. I laughed when I heard him say after Jerry Falwell had pronounced what every good Christian should do with, "What every good Christian should do is to tell him to kiss my a$$." Loved it, and I gained respect for Goldwater from that point on.

Frank Langella is from NJ? Wonder if he's any kin to our Frank. Razz
