It worked, Vonny. Thanks for Cream again. White Room was especially good.

Hope you all enjoyed Hank and my other comments and songs. As I have often noted you ARE the radio.

Going to say good afternoon with two songs.

First another Hawaiian son with lyrics to follow.

The "Ahihi lehua" of the vale...

Farewell to thee,
Farewell to thee,
Thou charming one who dwellst among the bow'rs.
One fond embrace,
Before I now depart,
Until we meet again.

Thus sweet memories come back to me,
Bringing fresh remembrance of the past
Dearest one, yes, thou art mine own,
From thee, true love shall ne'er depart.

Now Mel,"the velvet fog"

Valour is the chiefest virtue, and
Most dignified the haver.

Didn't go to sleep until late last night, because I watched this great movie on TCM

First, some info

In the process, King Solomon's Mines created a new genre, known as the "Lost World", which would inspire Edgar Rice Burroughs' The Land That Time Forgot, Arthur Conan Doyle's The Lost World, Rudyard Kipling's The Man Who Would Be Kingand HP Lovecraft's At the Mountains of Madness. Lee Falk's The Phantom was initially written in this genre. A much later Lost World novel was Michael Crichton's Congo, which involves a quest for King Solomon's lost mines, supposedly located in a lost African city called Zin

Once again calling all musicians, music lovers, chatters, poets and painters.

Amy Lowell who was born in Brooklyn:

A Gift

See! I give myself to you, Beloved!
My words are little jars
For you to take and put upon a shelf.
Their shapes are quaint and beautiful,
And they have many pleasant colours and lustres
To recommend them.
Also the scent from them fills the room
With sweetness of flowers and crushed grasses.

When I shall have given you the last one,
You will have the whole of me,
But I shall be dead.

Another birthday man, y'all, and here is a tribute to him:

Jimmy Carter was an outstanding president. He was a wonder in habitat for humanity and he allowed all who avoided the draft to return home without punishment. He did get in a bit of trouble when he wanted Dylan Thomas relocated to The Poet's Corner in England

I'm not surprised, Thomas is buried in Wales. For a lot of people he's the Welsh poet, like Burns is the Scots poet and Shakespeare the English poet, and as such he should be left where he is, in Wales.

I spent part of the weekend tidying up the back yard. When I was done,
I looked around and realized that this little patch of earth give me a lot
of peace and comfort.

It made me think of this song. I can't get to youtube from here, but
I'll post the lyrics.

"Up On The Roof"

When this old world starts getting me down
And people are just too much for me to face
I climb way up to the top of the stairs
And all my cares just drift right into space

On the roof, it's peaceful as can be
And there, the world below can't bother me
Let me tell you now

When I come home feeling tired and beat
I go up where the air is fresh and sweet
I get away from the hustling crowds
And all that rat race noise down in the street

On the roof's the only place I know
Where you just have to wish to make it so
Let's go up on the roof

At night, the stars put on a show for free
And, darling, you can share it all with me
I keep-a tellin' you

Right smack dab in the middle of town
I found a paradise that's trouble-proof
And if this world starts getting you down
There's room enough for two up on the roof

Everybody had a great contribution today. Too much to comment on it all. I really like Sammy Davis Jr doing What sort of a fool do you think I Am?

I know what you mean about Wales, izz with a y. There's a poet's corner in South Wales.

Latin George, I just heard James Taylor do that one. Wonderful.

edgar, That was a great one by Harry. Didn't know it so thank again for the introduction and you comment on Sammy.

Vonny, It was difficult to access you guitar man. Maybe tomorrow.

Just got back from my doctor's appointment, so I'm leaving our radio station a bit early with two songs.

First, one for Halloween. (there really was a dracule the Impaler.

Now, one of my favorite classics.

What a wonderful mix of music and poetry today, y'all.

From Letty with love to everyone here.

@Letty,
The article is an obituary - briefly, it says "Jack Bruce could play any style, classical, jazz, latin, blues, but what he became famous for was playing the fluid, expressive, wildly melodic and highly charged basslines in rock’s first supergroup, Cream.

A power trio formed in 1966 by Eric Clapton, Cream was a showcase for three of the hottest virtuoso musicians on the London rock scene, Clapton, Bruce and wild drummer Ginger Baker. They were an immediate multi-million selling sensation, a gladiatorial outfit who seemed to be doing musical battle on stage, producing a heavy form of psychedelic blues that heralded the birth of hard rock."
