When we Two parted

WHEN we two parted
In silence and tears,
Half broken-hearted
To sever for years,
Pale grew thy cheek and cold, 5
Colder thy kiss;
Truly that hour foretold
Sorrow to this.

The dew of the morning
Sunk chill on my brow— 10
It felt like the warning
Of what I feel now.
Thy vows are all broken,
And light is thy fame:
I hear thy name spoken, 15
And share in its shame.

They name thee before me,
A knell to mine ear;
A shudder comes o'er me—
Why wert thou so dear? 20
They know not I knew thee,
Who knew thee too well:
Long, long shall I rue thee,
Too deeply to tell.

In secret we met— 25
In silence I grieve,
That thy heart could forget,
Thy spirit deceive.
If I should meet thee
After long years, 30
How should I greet thee?
With silence and tears.

Love Amazing Grace by Judy, edgar and the poem by Keats says it right about beauty.

Miller, I also love that one by George Gordon Lord Byron.

Incidentally, gal, we no longer use the rating system here because it doesn't match the forum of the radio.

Here's a guy that I love to hear sing, y'all:

Is it too late to call our musicians, painters, poets, music lovers? Ah, I had hoped that McTag would slip in here and tell us of his performance on that second trombone.

Here's a different version of a poem set to music. I like Johnny Cash's version better, however.

I like both versions of that Harp Weavers song, letty.
Moon River is a great song, too.

@vonny,
Danny does a great version of Moon River, Vonny. I know it best by Henry Mancini with lyrics by Johnny Mercer.We both know it was for dear Audry Hepburn.

edgar, Thanks for the comment and personal acknowledgement. I like that one by "the Jester", too.

Johnny was so talented. Here's one by him that I still like:

Good morning from our radio station here in Florida

Hurry back, edgar, Really enjoyed Clyde doing Treasure of Love.

Welcome back, Latin George. Jimmy doing Sugar Shack was really good. Just want you to know we no longer use the rating system, because it is not in line with our radio format.

Two songs for today here, y'all.

First, one I have never heard by "old blue eyes", but it is wonderful.

Now, one I heard in my head in the black night of last night.:

Once again calling all performers and contributors, and, of course poets and painters.

Today is Paul Simon's birthday, and I thought of two versions of El Condor Passa:

Thinking of my country cousins today, and I just found out it's this country man's birthday:

Thomas Rhett Akins, Sr. is an American country singer and songwriter. Signed to Decca Records between 1994 and 1997, he released two albums for the label, followed by 1998's What Livin's All About on MCA Nashville.

Blue Eyes and White Lies? Love it, y'all.
