Renaud - Manu

Eh Manu rentre chez toi --- Hey Manu [diminutive for Emmanuel], go home
Y'a des larmes plein ta bière --- Your beer is full of tears
Le bistrot va fermer --- The bistro will soon close
Pi tu gonfles la taulière --- And the barmaid's cross at you
J'croyais qu'un mec en cuir --- I thought a lether-clad dude
Ca pouvait pas chialer --- Couldn't cry
J'pensais même que souffrir --- I even thought that suffering
Ca pouvais pas t'arriver --- Couldn't happen to you
J'oubliais qu'tes tatouages --- I forgot that your tattoos
Et ta lame de couteau --- And the blade of your knife
C'est surtout un blindage --- Are just some armor
Pour ton coeur d'artichaut --- For the soft spots in your heart

Eh déconne pas Manu --- Hey, no kidding Manu
Va pas t'tailler les veines --- Don't you go cut your veins now
Une gonzesse de perdue --- When a chick is lost
C'est dix copains qui r'viennent --- It's ten palls coming back

On était tous maqués --- We were all hitched up
Quand toi t'étais tous seul --- While you, you were all alone
Tu disais "j'me fais chier --- You said "I'm bored to death
Et j'voudrais sauver ma gueule" --- I wish someone could save my skin"
T'as croisé cette nana --- And you've met this chick
Qu'était faite pour personne --- That was made for no one
T'as dit elle pour moi --- And you said "she's for me
Ou alors y'a maldonne --- Or there's a misdeal"
T'as été un peu vite --- You went a little fast
Pour t'tatouer son prénom --- To tattoo her name
A l'endroit où palpite --- At the place where throbs
Ton grand coeur de grand con --- The big heart of you big jerk

Eh déconne pas Manu --- Hey, no kidding Manu
C't'à moi qu'tu fais d'la peine --- You're making me sad now
Une gonzesse de perdue --- When a chick is lost
C'est dix copains qui r'viennent --- It's ten palls coming back

J'vais dire on est des loups --- I'll tell you, we're wolves
On est fait pour vivre en bande --- Born to live in pack
Mais surtout pas en couple --- But certainly not in couple
Ou alors pas longtemps --- Or not for long
Nous autres ça fait un bail --- Us, we dropped our babes
Qu'on a largué nos p'tites --- A long time ago
Toi t'es toujours en rade --- But you're still stranded
Avec la tienne et tu flippes --- With yours and you freaking out
Eh Manu vivre libre --- Hey, Manu, to live free
C'est souvent vivre seul --- Often means to live alone
Ca fait p't'être mal au bide --- It is gut-wrenching perhaps
Mais c'est bon pour la gueule --- But it's good for your looks

Eh déconne pas Manu --- Hey, no kidding Manu
Ca sert à rien la haine --- It is useless to hate now
Une gonzesse de perdue --- When a chick is lost
C'est dix copains qui r'viennent --- It's ten palls coming back

Elle est plus amoureuse --- She's not in love no more
Manu faut qu'tu t'arraches --- Manu, get out of there
Elle peut pas être heureuse --- She can't be happy
Dans les bras d'un apache --- In the arms of a pirate
Quand tu lui dis je t'aime --- When you tell her: I love you
Si elle te d'mande du feu --- If she asks for a light
Si elle a la migraine --- If she has a migraine
Dès qu'elle est dans ton pieu --- As soon as she gets in your bed
Dis lui qu't'es désolé --- Tell her you're sorry
Qu't'as dû t'gourrer d'histoire --- You took her for someone else
Quand tu l'as rencontrée --- When you met her
T'as dû t'tromper d'histoire --- You must've heard the wrong tale

Eh déconne pas Manu (etc.) --- Hey, no kidding Manu (etc.)

Quote:
Cushie Butterfield" is a famous Geordie folk song written in the 19th century by Geordie Ridley, in the style of the music hall popular in the day. It is regarded by many as the second unofficial anthem of Tyneside after Blaydon Races.

This now famous local piece pokes fun at one of the many (at the time) whitening-stone sellers. The stone, made of baked clay (or "yella clay") was used to clean and decorate the stone steps leading up to the front door of the many terrace houses in the area (The material, or similar, was in common use throughout the country). Ridley had to leave the area for a while when the song initially caused consternation with the real live stone sellers. It is apparently the last song written by him.

Bat Penatar - Hell is for Children

They cry in the dark
So you can't see their tears
They hide in the light
So you can't see their fears
Forgive and forget
All the while
Love and pain become one and the same
In the eyes of a wounded child

Because hell, hell is for children
And you know that their little lives can become such a mess
Hell, hell is for children
And you shouldn't have to pay for your love
With your bones and your flesh

It's all so confusing this brutal abusing
They blacken your eyes and then apologize
"Be daddy's good girl, and don't tell mommy a thing"
"Be a good little boy, and you'll get a new toy
Tell grandma you fell from the swing"

Because hell, hell is for children
And you know that their little lives can become such a mess
Hell, hell is for children
And you shouldn't have to pay for your love
With your bones and your flesh

[Repeat: x3]
Hell, hell is for hell
Hell is for hell
Hell is for children

Hell is for children
Hell is for children

Olivier5. All of your songs were excellent. I especially liked Theo Kakola, because it shows how alcohol can destroy anyone's life. Pat's was good as well, but the message was a bit sad.

Pushman, loved that English folk song.

edgar, I didn't know those guns either, but I taught the message behind it in my history class.
My favorite by Snooks was Malaguena, because my dear friend Brucie played it on piano. A correction about Emily. Her sister published her poems.

Going to say goodnight a bit early, as the equipment in our Florida radio station, is not behaving.

First, Deep Purple:

Now, a marvelous version of Glenn Miller's original.

I wish I knew who thos performers were. The quartet in the background was great.

So great having our Brit and Frenchman with us, and, of course our Texan.

From Letty with love to all of you.

edgar, Thanks for your comment and personal acknowledgement. Love that one by Johnny. Didn't know that one, however.

@Letty,
Hi Miss Letty,

Loved Hoagy, great song and loved the Russian music too, comrade.

Be careful playing that Russian music Comrade Letty, you might give Putin an excuse to invade Florida. Shocked

@eurocelticyankee,
Welcome back, euroGeorge. Funny about Putin and calling me comrade. When I was a kid, I drank Russian tea all the time.

Your Thin Lizzy doing that moonlight song reminded me of King Harvest, buddy. Loved it. Glad you liked Hoagy.

There was a full moon here last night, and it was beautiful.

Here's a birthday man that I really love.

Hi Miss Letty,
I'm a big fan of Stevie Wonder.

I always thought Russian tea was vodka, only kidding.

Funny about the Russian tea, euro. I love that Mr. Blue Sky by Electric Light Orchestra, and the visuals were warming, too.

@Letty,
Love the Three Tenors, Miss Letty.

You'll find Irish eyes are either smiling or glaring, happily mostly smiling.
We Irish haven't yet managed a happy medium, then again... who has?.

Love Sinead.
