@edgarblythe,
Good morning from here in our Florida radio station.

edgar, Loved Theodore and Judy doing Greenland Fisheries. Didn't know that one so thanks for the introduction. Appreciate your comment on Herman's Hermits, too.

Two songs for the morning here. First a birthday guy and what a shock to discover that he might have been murdered.

Here he is with Cher:

and, y'all, our hymn for today:

Just posted this on the beers thread. It's from the film Champagne Charlie, which tells of a rivalry between two music halls. You've also got false outrage from the theatres complaining that music halls encouraged drunkenness, but they were really concerned that they were taking away their customers.

@Letty,
I was a bit of a fan when Sonny and Cher were together - not so much after they split.

Welcome back, pushman. Don't know that man, but his song was great.

edgar. Thanks for you comment, and I enjoyed your contribution. More synchronicity, Texas. Your reincarnation Edgar Bergen is our birthday man.

Here are a funny trio doing a song.

O my goodness, I chased edgar off. Come back, Texas. Razz

Another birthday man, but first some info.

Levardis Robert Martyn Burton, Jr. (born February 16, 1957), professionally known as LeVar Burton, is an American actor, presenter, director, producer, and author.

Burton is best known for his roles as the young Kunta Kinte in the 1977 award-winning ABC television miniseries Roots, Lt. Commander Geordi La Forge in Star Trek: The Next Generation, and as the host and executive producer of the long-running PBS children's program Reading Rainbow.

Now, the tribute:

I have always had a great deal of respect for Edgar Bergen and his two daughters.
Don't know much about Levar Burton.

@edgarblythe,
Welcome back, edgar/Shane. Don't know much about Jimmy Charles either, but a Million to One was a good one.

Which version of Once to Every Man and Nation did you like the best?

Your rose song reminded me of this one.

I remember that song, letty.
I didn't listen to the second version of the hymn. I am not into hymns enough to listen to them that much.

edgar, I remember Dicky Lee best for Strange Things Happen in this World. Great chord changes in that song. I just played it on our radio station piano.

Good one by Tony. and it reminded me of, "....I met a girl who sang the blues, and I asked her for some happy news, but she just smiled and walked away..."

Janis did that song as a part of Big Brother and the Holding Company. The album, Cheap Thrills, is high on my list of all time favorites.

a great number of musical birthdays today .

let's start with Wayne King : the Waltz King

Quote:
Wayne King (February 16, 1901 – July 16, 1985) was an American musician, songwriter, singer and orchestra leader with a long association with both NBC And CBS. He was sometimes referred to as the Waltz King because much of his most popular music involved waltzes; "The Waltz You Saved For Me" was his standard set closing song in live performance and on numerous radio broadcasts at the height of his career.
