sorry, TTL, I liked the second version of Izzy's better. The first one reminded me of poor Michael Jackson.

Incidentally, which version of Rudolph did you prefer?

Two more comparisons, y'all.

First, S & G.

hbg introduced me to this version.

well, folks, while we await our dear TTL's response, I'll make a bet that Izzythe push will prefer one of these two.

First, Johnny Mercer.

Oh, dear, now I remember Buddy Holly's first song was Peggy Sue, and when I saw "holly' I thought of "deck the halls with Boston Charlie, wallah wallah,wallah, Washington.

Well, I hope our edgar is alright. He morphed into Edgar Bergen now lets hope is isn't Edgar Rice Burroughs.

Saying goodnight with this great performer.

today is the birthday of a well-known Canadian singer :

Quote:
Deanna Durbin (born Edna Mae Durbin; December 4, 1921 – c. April 20, 2013)[4] was a Canadian singer and actress, who appeared in a number of musical films in the 1930s and 1940s, her singing voice being variously described as being light but full, sweet and unaffected. With the technical skill and vocal range of a legitimate lyric soprano, she performed everything from popular standards to operatic arias.

Durbin made her first film appearance with Judy Garland in Every Sunday (1936), and subsequently signed a contract with Universal Studios. Her success as the ideal teenage daughter in films such as Three Smart Girls (1936) was credited with saving the studio from bankruptcy.[5] In 1938, at the age of 17, Durbin was awarded the Academy Juvenile Award.

I thought you would like Johnny's better than Bing's pushman.

hbg, welcome back. I recall Deanna Durbin and Amapola. Odd, Ontario, Freddie Cannon was the name of a member of my husband's band. Thanks again for the info. Good one by him.

Didn't sleep too well last evening concerned about edgar, but he's alright. Just had company.

How about Mr. Dredlocks.

@trying2learn,
Thanks, Trying2Learn. I did as well.

Today is the birthday of Denis Wilson, one of the Beach Boys. Many people claimed he was in league with Charles Manson, but only for a while. He died by drowning and problems with alcohol.

Inspired by The Four Freshmen, their version of Their Hearts were Full of Spring. First, The Freshmen.

Now, The Beach Boys.

@Letty,
I found the info. for the previous post while looking for :

Quote:
Lillian Russell (December 4, 1860[1] – June 6, 1922) was an American actress and singer. She became one of the most famous actresses and singers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, known for her beauty and style, as well as for her voice and stage presence.

Russell was born in Iowa but raised in Chicago. Her parents separated when she was eighteen, and she moved to New York with her mother. She quickly began to perform professionally, singing for Tony Pastor and playing roles in comic opera, including Gilbert and Sullivan works. She married composer Edward Solomon in 1884 and created roles in several of his operas in London, but in 1886 he was arrested for bigamy.

Russell was married four times, but her longest relationship was with Diamond Jim Brady, who supported her extravagant lifestyle for four decades.

@hamburgboy,
Once again, hbg, I always appreciate your personal acknowledgement. Love Eddie Cantor, but didn't know Donna Drake. Great duo and dancing. I can tap my toe now.

For a moment, I thought the hamsters (rodents, ya know) had destroyed our signal.

Went you get a chance, tell me which version of There Hearts Were Full of Spring you would choose as your favorite. Odd, herr hbg, I once asked someone, "do you know who it was that had a bustle like Lillian Russell"?

Going to say goodnight with two songs.

First a fabulous trio.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3QAXi1_350

Now the man who inspired Bobby Darin.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fd_nopTFuZA

Hope Latin George and euroGeorge are alright. Hope our edgar is as well.

So nice to have Ontario via Germany with us.

From Letty with love to everyone, everywhere.
