That song is from the musical Kismet, which was based on the music of Alexander Borodin. This is the "Gliding Dance of the Maidens," from the Polovtsian dances in his opera Prince Igor, 1890. Here's the short version:

And for those who can do eleven minutes, here's the full version:

Borodin was a chemist by profession--music was his hobby (! ! !), and he was also an advocate of women's rights, who opened a private medical school for women.

Sorry that I can't acknowledge each one, y'all.

@Letty,
Elvis was always at his best singing Gospel, I think!

Another version of the same song - this time by Katherine Jenkins and Andrea Bocelli - 'I Believe' ...

@Letty,
good evening msletty , ed and all other listeners to Wa2K Radio !

today is the birthday of Ava Barber ( formerly of the Lawrence Welk show ) .

she was born in Knoxville ( LW persisted in calling it NAXVILLE ! ... Laughing ... )

Quote:
Ava Barber (born June 28, 1954) is an American country music singer and performer. She is best remembered for having performed on The Lawrence Welk Show throughout much of the 1970s and early 1980s.

She is also known as a recording artist, her best-known hit being the song, "Bucket to the South", which peaked at No. 13 on the Hot Country Songs list in 1978. She has done many reunion specials on PBS for The Lawrence Welk Show over the past number of years.
