@hamburgboy,

Well Hbg, good morning to you and all the good folks on the radio here.
In our orchestra at the moment we are rehearsing inter alia the overture to Das Fliegende Hollaender, by your Mr Wagner.
Not easy on the bass, aber die Uebung ist die Muehe wert.

@hamburgboy,
thanks, hamburgboy - good clip, hadn't seen it before! Seeing it reminded me of Liza's mother, here is Judy in a clip from A Star is Born -

Good morning.
Yes, I have a record of Julie Driscol, Brian Auger, doing Wheel's on Fire. I like it a lot better than The Band's version, actually.

Happy bday Freddy.

@McTag,
mctag ,

i hope you will truly enjoy Wagner's music as interpreted by a " famous "

english-canadian artist : Anna Russell .

Quote:
Anna Russell, née Anna Claudia Russell-Brown (27 December 1911 – 18 October 2006) was an English–Canadian singer and comedienne. She gave many concerts in which she sang and played comic musical sketches on the piano. Among her best-known works are her concert performances and famous recordings of The Ring of the Nibelungs (An Analysis) – a humorous 30-minute synopsis of Richard Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen – and (on the same album) her parody How to Write Your Own Gilbert and Sullivan Opera.[1]
