hbg, I loved that gospel music by The Blind Boys of Mississippi. Artie Shaw's Begin the Beguine was great as was Green Eyes by Bob and Helen.s

edgar, Didn't know Maggie Rose's Better, but it was a good one.

I think you missed this by "the jester", so I'm playing it again.

Annie, Welcome to A2K and WA2K. Loved your Mickey and Minnie song. My daughter loved them also when she was your age.

Wandel, so glad your brought your lovely daughter into our studio. Here's another reminder of Walt and the club.

Aloha. I have catching up to do with the jazz alphabet. First, T as in Cal Tjader on vibes, featuring Mongo Santamaria on conga/bongos, playing "Tu Crees Que": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IqhFIFAIsH8

The letter U is challenging, but luckily youtube has cool video of guitarist Phil Upchurch, with Jimmy Smith, organ, playing "Back at the Chicken Shack". This one smokes. Cool http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kxpNuRW9n0

@yitwail,
Welcome back, honu. You and your alphabet jazz continue to amaze us. I still have some problems telling a vibraphone from a vibraharp. Cal was great as was Jimmy and Phil. Back at the Chicken Shack is a funny title.

Here's Hamp.

Incidentally, they were in Japan.

another jazz-great has his birthday today :

Humphrey Richard Adeane Lyttelton (23 May 1921 – 25 April 2008),[1][2] also known as Humph, was an English jazz musician and broadcaster, and chairman of the BBC radio comedy programme I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue.[3] As a performer, he is perhaps best-remembered for the hit single "Bad Penny Blues" (1956).

@Letty,
Ms Letty, glad you like my jazz sides. I have 2 great ones lined up for tomorrow, 2 duets in fact.

Thanks for playing Hamp. I could tell they were in Japan. Wink I saw Hamp in the states, once. He was pretty good on drums, too, especially considering his age. Cal Tjader was pretty good on percussion for that matter.

Hello everybody this cat is back,
Looking for a place called the Chicken Shack
They only serve warm beer rice and beans
But it feels just like it's down in New Orleans
Brace yourself baby I'm here to attack
Down at the place called the Chicken Schack

The girls at that place are mighty fine
But stay off sadie green cause that girl is mine
The moonlight shines through the holes in the wall
Everybody there is having a ball
They don't care that the place looks like a wreck
Down at the place called the Chicken Shack

I wanna rip it, rock it, really bop it
Flip it, flop it, David Crocket
Just like Roy Montrell everytime he hears hat mellow saxophone
The good old rockin' days will never come back
Except down at the place called the Chicken Shack

The good old rockin days will never come back
Except down at the place called the Chicken Shack

Turtle, we will await your duo tomorrow;just so glad that you're back with us.

hbg, Chicken Shack Boogie replete with lyrics was great. Thanks, Ontario.

Now this is a bit long, but I think everyone will enjoy the visuals and the jazz.

@edgarblythe,
Glad that you liked that one by "the jester". To me his voice was great on that one.

I liked Jerry Lee's Funny How Time Slips Away.

Dear Eddie Fisher. Love this one by him, but Hawthorne was right. If we could do things over again, we'd more than likely make the same mistakes.

Carol King

It's a real bummer that they put ads with 90% of the songs now.
Cottonfields is a great song.

@edgarblythe,
You're spot on about the ads, edgar. Thanks for your comment, buddy.

I never hear Carol King (loved I feel the earth move) that I don't think of James Taylor.

I had to come back and try Buddy Rich again. Due to a poor connection, it would not play the first time.

edgar, as you know I love Marty Robbins. Don't Worry by him was great. Also liked your other version of Carol doing Believe in Humanity.

Ragman, Welcome back. Buddy's drum solo was a goodie.

Going to say goodnight now. A few more back pains.

Two songs for the late evening her.

First, Beethoven.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQVeaIHWWck

Now, a fabulous performer, Jan Peerce

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1iNlM3Gnxg.

Odd, the only song I recall by him was Bluebird of Happiness.

so great having Hawaii, Little Annie via the orient, Wandel her father via Germany. and, of course, hbg from Ontario via Gemany. Fantastic mix of music on WA2K radio today.

From Letty with love to everyone. Can't get Joe to answer me. <sniff, sniff>
