@edgarblythe,
Wow! I totally forgot about that song with Trinity and Brian Auger. I'm watching this in amazement.

What I remember her, Brian and Trinity for most is for Season of the Witch:

Stevie Wonder,

is an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and was a child prodigy who developed into one of the most creative musical figures of the late 20th century.[2] Blind since shortly after birth,[3] Wonder signed with Motown's Tamla label at the age of eleven[2] and continues to perform and record for Motown to this day.

@hamburgboy,
Happy birthday Stevie W! Representing the letter H today is Herbie Hancock, one of the most versatile jazz musicians ever. Here's a classic Hancock composition, "Dolphin Dance": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iB2Z2DY17yQ

There's one recorded collaboration between Stevie & Herbie that I know of, the song "As" from "Songs in the Key of Life" in which Herbie plays the electric piano solo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjsAy7HFeX0

Rex, Welcome back to you as well, and I love Marvin Gaye.

Good morning to all here as well.

Rex, Loved Leo's You Made Me Feel Like Dancing.

hbg, Strauss's Polka was wonderful, and thanks for his lullaby for me. It worked.

edgar, Mr. Rodgers' Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood was one that I recall. If I'm not mistaken, he also did jazz. Need to check that out.

Today is Bobby Darin's birthday, so here is a tribute to that marvelous performer.

good morning to all and happy birthday to :

Quote:
Sidney Bechet (May 14, 1897 – May 14, 1959) was an American jazz saxophonist, clarinetist, and composer.

He was one of the first important soloists in jazz (beating cornetist and trumpeter Louis Armstrong to the recording studio by several months[1] and later playing duets with Armstrong), and was perhaps the first notable jazz saxophonist. Forceful delivery, well-constructed improvisations, and a distinctive, wide vibrato characterized Bechet's playing.

Bechet's erratic temperament hampered his career, however, and not until the late 1940s did he earn wide acclaim.

@hamburgboy,
hbg, I love Bechet's Little Flower. Great performer Ontario. Thanks again for the info on the man.

More synchronicity, because today is this gal's birthday, but first some info.

Nicole Marie Appleton-Gallagher is a Canadian pop singer and actress and a former member of All Saints. She was formerly a member of Appleton along with her older sister Natalie Appleton.

Now, her tribute.

happy birthday to Patrice Munsel :

Patrice Munsel (born May 14, 1925) is an American coloratura soprano, the youngest singer who ever starred at the Metropolitan Opera, nicknamed "Princess Pat".

Munsel was born in Spokane, Washington, United States and studied in New York,[1] coached by Giacomo Spadoni. She first sang at the Metropolitan at age 17, in March 1943. She made her official Metropolitan debut on December 4, 1943 at the age of 18, singing Philine in Mignon. Perhaps best known for the role of Adele in Die Fledermaus, she performed 225 times at the Metropolitan. Sir Rudolf Bing called her a "superb soubrette" and implied that she was the world's best. Her opera roles included Rosina in The Barber of Seville and Despina in Cosi fan Tutte.[1]
