" so tired " - Wink

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xoz7x4_russ-morgan-orchestra-so-tired-1937_music

Quote:
Born into a Welsh family on April 29, 1904 in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Russ Morgan was encouraged to express himself musically from the tender age of seven. He came by his ability naturally since his father, a coal-mine foreman, was a former musician who played drums in the local band in his spare time with his mother, before her marriage, had been a pianist in a vaudeville act. Almost at the same age that he began to study piano, he began to work in the mines in order to earn money to help support his family and pay for his lessons.
He was a major arranger and composer in the pre-rock era. He played in New York groups during the early '20s and did arrangements for Victor Herbert and John Philip Sousa.. He played with Freddy Martin in 1934 and formed his own band in 1936. During the late '30s, '40s, and '50s, he led an extremely successful orchestra.

( today there are quite a few musical birthdays .
i really enjoy those old b&w filmclips - the sound may be a little scratchy -
but the music was catchy - the bands were great )

Don't know Frank's In the Merry Month of May, but loved the visuals.

Your Russ reminded of someone my mamma loved, so from Russ to Russian.

@hamburgboy,
hbg, I love that Russian music and the photo was great. In the small town of Virginia where I grew up, there was a tea room owned by a Russian lady called Ms. Catron. (not certain I spelled it correctly)

That gives me a chance to play Matt. Great vocalist.

Welcome back, edgar. I recall The Beatles doing back in the USSR. That was great.

hbg, Loved Ivan doing that Russian Folk Song. What a fabulous baritone was he.

Hope you don't mind me doing a change of pace, but today is Daniel Day Lewis' birthday, so here is a tribute to him.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, of all of the Beatles, I thought George Harrison had the best voice. Loved What is Life by him.

Another George. Bet you know this one, Texas.

When you get a chance, check out Daniel Day-Lewis. Everyone I know has talked about how great he was as Lincoln.

George Hamilton IV is actually related to George Hamilton the actor.
I saw the tribute to Lewis. Lincoln is the only thing I remember him in.
I like all the Beatles and don't have a favorite, although I am drawn intellectually to John.

@edgarblythe,
Thunder boomers here, so I'm going to say goodnight a bit early.

Thanks for you comment on Lewis and your preference for John, edgar.

Don't know Tim Hardin but Misty Roses was lovely.

Two songs for my day's ending. First Willie Nelson. I chose this one by him because my older sister and I used to combine it with Love oh Love Oh Careless love.

Now Beethoven.

Perhaps we'll hear from other countries tomorrow.

From Letty with love to our trio on WA2K today and to everyone.

@edgarblythe,
Well, edgar, it looks as though we are a duo tonight on WA2K radio.

Loved Judy Collins doing Amazing Grace; Factory by The Rolling Stones; Crescendos Oh Julie and Tim Hardin's The Lady Came from Baltimore.

Saying good night with two songs.

First Roy,

I hate to be the one to say it, but your Roy song is actually a Righteous Brothers recording.
