@hamburgboy,
Yep, hbg. The Outback still serves the best food here. Love The Blue Bells of Scotland as well as Hey Big Spender by Pearl. Here are the lyrics to Mantovani's Yellow Rose of Texas.

There's a yellow rose in Texas, That I am going to see,
Nobody else could miss her, Not half as much as me.
She cried so when I left her It like to broke my heart,
And if I ever find her, We nevermore will part.

[Chorus]

She's the sweetest little rosebud That Texas ever knew,
Her eyes are bright as diamonds, They sparkle like the dew;
You may talk about your Clementine, And sing of Rosalee,
But the YELLOW ROSE OF TEXAS Is the only girl for me.

When the Rio Grande is flowing, The starry skies are bright,
She walks along the river In the quiet summer night:
I know that she remembers, When we parted long ago,
I promise to return again, And not to leave her so. [Chorus]

Oh now I'm going to find her, For my heart is full of woe,
And we'll sing the songs together, That we sung so long ago
We'll play the bango gaily, And we'll sing the songs of yore,

Today is this guy's birthday, y'all.

@edgarblythe,
Ah, edgar, I love that one by Marilyn and Billy. You might want to check out The Yellow Rose of Texas, too.

Here's another birthday guy, but first some info.

Christophe Guy Denis "Christopher" Lambert (born 29 March 1957) is an American-born French actor who has appeared in American, as well as French and other European productions. He is best known for his role as Connor MacLeod, or simply "The Highlander", from the movie and subsequent movie franchise series of the same name. He is also known for his roles as Tarzan in Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes and as the thunder god Raiden in the first movie adaptation of the video game Mortal Kombat. He is credited internationally as Christopher Lambert, with the exceptions of French-speaking countries, where he is known as Christophe Lambert.

I decided to play a brief depiction of Tarzan.

any of you oldtimers ( Smile ) remember Moon Mullican ? ( it's his birthday today )

Quote:
Aubrey Wilson Mullican (March 29, 1909 – January 1, 1967), known as Moon Mullican, was an American country and western singer, songwriter, and pianist. However, he also sang and played jazz, rock 'n' roll and the blues. He was associated with the hillbilly boogie style which greatly influenced rockabilly; Jerry Lee Lewis cited him as a major influence on his own singing and piano playing.

Mullican once stated, "We gotta play music that'll make them goddamn beer bottles bounce on the table". ... Shocked ...

and one more birthday to celebrate : E Power Biggs - the great

composer and organist - here playing the " Maple Leaf Rag " .

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4RaT4PUGRdE

Quote:
Edward George Power Biggs (March 29, 1906 – March 10, 1977), more familiarly known as E. Power Biggs, was a British-born American concert organist and recording artist.

Biggs was born in Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex, England; a year later, the family moved to the Isle of Wight. Biggs was trained in London at the Royal Academy of Music, where he studied with G.D. Cunningham. Biggs emigrated to the United States in 1930. In 1932, he took up a post at Christ Church in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he lived for the rest of his life.

Biggs did much to bring the classical pipe organ back to prominence, and was in the forefront of the mid-20th-century resurgence of interest in the organ music of pre-Romantic composers. On his first concert tour of Europe, in 1954, Biggs performed and recorded works of Johann Sebastian Bach, Sweelinck, Dieterich Buxtehude, and Pachelbel on historic organs associated with those composers. Thereafter, he believed that such music should ideally be performed on instruments representative of that period and that organ music of that epoch should be played by using (as closely as possible) the styles and registrations of that era. Thus, he sparked the American revival of organ building in the style of European Baroque instruments, seen especially in the increasing popularity of tracker organs — analogous to Europe's Orgelbewegung.

edgar, thanks for your comment and I do remember Peter Paul and Mary doing Monday Morning.

hbg, you are always so good to comment on everything, and although I don't remember Moon Mulligan's Bull frog, I do recall Jeremiah Was a Bull Frog.

I also remember Chariots of Fire and Blue Bayou. Marvelous renditions of wonderful classics.

Going to say goodnight with a classic and the lyrics to it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kciqR0HxNQ

Full moon and empty arms
The moon is there for us to share
But where are you?

A night like this could weave a memory
And every kiss could start a dream for two

Full moon and empty arms
Tonight, I'll use the magic moon
To wish upon

And next full moon
If my one wish comes true
My empty arms will be filled with you

Now, dear Hank Williams is going to Set the Woods on Fire.

great songs and great people here as hbg noted.

From Letty with love to all
