Fantastic visuals of different birds chirping away, hbg.

Didn't know that Blackbird song, Ontario, but I'm with you on Dame Vera Lynn. A Nightingale Sang in Berkely Square is fantastic.

Blackbirds all over my lawn this morning, and here's another jazz standard.

Don't forget to check out James Taylor's "kid" and Sam Cooke, buddy.

@Letty,
hi , msletty !

this music takes me back to my childhood - " Parade of the Tin soldiers "

by Leon Jessel - here played by Reginald Dixon on the Blackpool Tower

Organ .

Quote:
Leon Jessel, or Léon Jessel (January 22, 1871 – January 4, 1942) was a German composer of operettas and light classical music pieces. Today he is best known internationally as the composer of the popular jaunty march "The Parade of the Tin Soldiers," also known as "The Parade of the Wooden Soldiers." Jessel was a prolific composer who wrote hundreds of light orchestral pieces, piano pieces, songs, waltzes, mazurkas, marches, choruses, and other salon music. He achieved considerable acclaim with a number of his operettas — in particular Schwarzwaldmädel (Black Forest Girl), which remains popular to this day.

Thanks, hbg, for all of your wonderful songs. Too many to comment on each one, but they were superb. Ah, you didn't listen to Sam and James Taylors' kid.

edgar, I know that one best by Nat and Natalie, Texas. I think I need a nap myself.

Hope this doesn't wake all of us up.

@edgarblythe,
I do as well, edgar. Had a few problems with Spanish Nights, but what I heard was enthralling.

Here's a great one by Ben King to match

edgar, Loved Edye doing Blame it on The Bosa Nova. Thanks for your comments on Ben.

hbg, Debra needed a mongoose, methinks. Noticed that Debra is still with us as well.

Going to say good night with two songs by a great flute player.

First, Harlem Nocturne. Stacy Keach did Mike Hammer and that was his theme.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4xY1RFNsBU

Now he does a Beatles song.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7gdstNGYEs

and, y'all, the lyrics

I once had a girl, or should I say, she once had me...
She showed me her room, isn't it good, norwegian wood?

She asked me to stay and she told me to sit anywhere,
So I looked around and I noticed there wasn't a chair.

I sat on a rug, biding my time, drinking her wine
We talked until two and then she said, "It's time for bed"

She told me she worked in the morning and started to laugh.
I told her I didn't and crawled off to sleep in the bath

And when I awoke, I was alone, this bird had flown
So I lit a fire, isn't it good, norwegian wood.

@Letty,
Here are the words as my wife remembers it:

Lost Rooster Song

Sunday dawn, Cock-a-doodle-do, he was gone, Cock-a-doodle-do, and I thought my heart would break.

He has feathers blue and bright, Cock-a-doodle-do, when he sings Cock-a-doodle-do, flaps his wings, Cock-a-doodle-do, he is such a pretty sight.

France and Spain I travelled through, Cock-a-doodle-do, and to Germany I flew, Cock-a-doodle-do, no bird there, Cock-a-doodle-do, not in England or Peru.

So kind friends both far and near, Cock-a-doodle-do, to my pleading heart give ear, Cock-a-doodle-do, find my pet Cock-a-doodle-do, don’t forget Cock-a-doodle-do, Bring me back my rooster dear.

What is the tune?
Call me @ 360-904-0940 if you know the tune!
Thanks, Howard Ek

Up too early this morning, folks, but I really enjoyed all the music. Sammy doing Toot Toot Tootsie was great but I recall it by Al Jolson, too. Also enjoyed your good morning song by the fab four. Didn't know Baby You Can Drive my Car. hbg, Had no idea that Sam did Twistin' the Night Away. Great one by John Hurt, as edgar noted, I love Irene Goodnight, too.

Two birthday people for the morning on our radio.

First a tribute to this guy. I know him best for Ladyhawke and Blade Runner.

Now, a lady that I know best for Law and Order.
