Love, love, love Lean on Me by Bill Withers.

Remember Johnny Ray? My older sister really liked him.

Here's one by the guy, and today is his birthday.

edgar, thanks again for your comments.

I had no idea that Jerry Lee did Jambalaya. Great one.

McTag it is always good to see you here, and although your One Note Samba would not play here, I most certainly know that one by Stan Getz and Charlie Parker.

Didn't know America by Simon and Garfunkel, but I really liked it. Thanks for the two lines of poetry from that one.

Gonna say good night with two songs. This was inspired by Morgan's comment on calling Afro folks by their NAMES.

@Letty,

o you know what, I was looking on YouTube for "Girl Talk" the classic song and I was reminded of this, same name, song by Dave Edmunds which I also like.

Here's an instrumental version of what I was looking for, played by the divine Oscar Peterson

Hurry back, hbg, and here are the English words to Granada, which I love. You too, edgar.

Granada, I'm falling under your spell,
And if you could speak, what a fascinating tale you would tell.
Of an age the world has long forgotten.
Of an age that weaves a silent magic in Granada today.

The dawn in the sky greets the day with a sigh for Granada,
For she can remember the splendor that once was Granada.
It still can be found in the hills all around as I wanderr along.
Entranced by the beauty before me,
Entranced by a land full of sunshine and flowers and song.

And when day is done and the sun starts to set in Granada,
I envy the blush of the snow-clad Sierra Nevada.
For soon it will welcome the stars while a thousand guitars,
Play a soft habanera.
Then moonlit Granada will live again the glory of yesterday,
Romantic and gay.

Hey, McTag, I talk solo you can't hear me. Razz

Don't know Dave Edmunds' version of Girl Talk, but thanks for the introduction.

I guess my favorite is by the fantastic Oscar Peterson, but I also like Billy May and Jack Jones.

How about Herbie Mann and his flute for today.

I used to have a record of Frankie Laine singing Granada. But, no more. About thirty five years ago I lost half of my collection. I like your last song, letty. Forgot its title.

Love Writer in the Sun by Donovan, edgar, and perhaps you'll remember this.

Sunny, Yesterday my life was filled with pain, and Sunny, you smiled at me and took away the rain.

First time I heard that by Naomi, letty. I thought at first you would be playing Sunny, the song Cher and Bobby Hebb originally made famous.

@edgarblythe,
Ah, I Loved and the beat goes on by those two, edgar. Actually, Texas, I didn't know that one by Naomi either, just played it because it was her birthday. Oops, I was thinking Sonny and Cher.

Baby Blue by George Strait was great, and here's one to match.

I'll be you know the lyrics to that one

Funny thing, I saw references to this twice recently, and it was on a Michael Feinstein programme on our TVs.
