@Barry The Mod,
I had no idea that there was a movie about young John Lennon, Brit. I have often wondered if he had been deported he might be alive today.

Don't know Shades of Time by Santana, but it was great.

I also like Anne Murray.

Good evening. I just finished running new phone wires and a jack from the service box on the side of the house. I had lost my internet service totally.

@edgarblythe,
I know the feeling of loose wires, edgar. You are indeed a Mr. Fixit.

Never heard Luther Plays the Boogie by the man in black. Barry has climbed the apples to watch The Hobbit so let's listen to another side of things.

Another birthday gal.

there seem to be lots of musical birthdays today !

here is Dionne Warwick with " Heartbreaker " :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IfzUhro9dHs

( a beautiful presentation ! )

Quote:
Dionne Warwick (born Marie Dionne Warrick; December 12, 1940) is an American singer, actress and TV show host, who became a United Nations Global Ambassador for the Food and Agriculture Organization, and a United States Ambassador of Health.

Having been in a partnership with songwriters Burt Bacharach and Hal David, Warwick ranks among the 40 biggest hit makers of the entire rock era (1955–2012), based on the Billboard Hot 100 Pop Singles Charts. Warwick ranks second only to Aretha Franklin as the most-charted female vocalist with 56 singles making the Billboard Hot 100 between 1962 and 1998.

( i'll feature Aretha Franklin later - i remember her from being on Flip Wilson's show often )

@hamburgboy,
Welcome back, hbg. Your video wouldn't play here, but I certainly know Connie Francis song.

Here are the lyrics.

Yes, everybody's somebody's fool
Someday you'll find someone you really care for
And if her love should prove to be untrue,
You'll know how much this heart of my is breakin'
You'll cry for her the way I cried for you
Yes, everybody's somebody's fool
Everybody's somebody's plaything
And there are no exceptions to the rule
Yes, everybody's somebody's fool

You missed Dionne's Walk On By, but Heartbreaker is a great one as well.

I was thinking of Jimmy Carter today and here's a memory.

Perhaps the most controversial moment of Jimmy Carter's otherwise triumphant tour of England last month came when he spoke out passionately on behalf of a man dead for 24 years. Standing in Poets' Corner of Westminster Abbey, where many of Britain's late, great literati repose, the President expressed the hope that his favorite poet, Welsh bard Dylan Thomas, might someday be memorialized there.

Well, we know Anne Murray is Canadian and so is Diana. Love Do You Know the Way to San Jose.

Saying goodnight with that fantastic performer.

Did I just see the president in the audience?

a true guitar virtuoso has his birthday today : Carlos Montoya

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cv2Fyjk0GGM

Quote:
Carlos Montoya (13th December 1903 – 3rd March 1993) was a prominent Flamenco guitarist and a founder of the modern-day popular Flamenco style of music.[1]

His unique style and successful career, despite all odds, have left a great legacy for modern day Flamenco. It is because of his pioneering work in popular Flamenco music that have allowed other great modern groups such as the Gipsy Kings to take hold in all parts of the world. A few of his video recordings can still be found on YouTube.

beautiful music !

@hamburgboy,
hbg, Spike Jones is indeed a funny guy. Love that Flamenco guitar by Carlos, as well. As a kid, I called it flamingo. (the bird)

Another Canadian from whom I learned quite a bit. He is right on so many things that constitute life and and the effect of the media.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, thanks again for your comment. When supervising teachers appeared in my classroom, I always used Marshall McLuhan as my subject of the day. They knew nothing of him. Razz

Love Leslie's Christmas in New York. Great voice!
