Hurry back, dear Barry. Loved Kathryn's Just a Feeling and especially Stars.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I will do so with two songs.

First, inspired by hbg's muppets, here's one by Andrea to Elmo.

and, Barry, inspired by your Just a Feeling.

good morning all listeners !
today is the birthday of Thelonius Monk - here he is , playing
" round about midnight " - that's just about right Wink

Quote:
Thelonious Sphere Monk[2] (October 10, 1917[3] – February 17, 1982) was an American jazz pianist and composer considered one of the giants of American music.[4] Monk had a unique improvisational style and made numerous contributions to the standard jazz repertoire, including "Epistrophy", "'Round Midnight", "Blue Monk", "Straight, No Chaser" and "Well, You Needn't". Monk is the second-most recorded jazz composer after Duke Ellington, which is particularly remarkable as Ellington composed over 1,000 songs while Monk wrote about 70

@edgarblythe,
Thanks again for restoring our signal, edgar, and your comments are always appreciated.

you sent me searching.

Dee Clark was an African-American soul singer best known for a string of R&B and pop hits in the late 1950s and early 1960s, including the ballad "Raindrops," which became a million-seller in the United States in 1961

Just Keep it Up was a goodie, and thanks for the introduction.

How about a little fun, this afternoon.

First, Nat.

Nature Boy is a good one. The only other person I know of to have recorded it is Bobby Darin. Both good records. I never heard the comedy version before.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks for your comment, edgar, as I though Red had chased you off. Blue Prelude is a great one by Roy Hamilton, but just to remind myself and our listeners.

Roy Hamilton was an American singer, who achieved major success in the US R&B and pop charts in the 1950s. He is best known for his recordings of "You'll Never Walk Alone", "Unchained Melody" and "You Can Have Her"

Do you remember Cheers? They had a thirty year reunion.

You know it’s a great party when it lasts for six hours. The CHEERS 30th reunion bash Saturday night in Beverly Hills was the perfect blend of laughter, tears, memories, and alcohol. If ever they gave an Emmy for “Best Show Party” (and they really should – it makes as much sense as Best Reality Show Host) Jimmy Burrows and Glen & Les Charles would win that too. It was like my 30th high school reunion except I couldn’t impress anybody that I worked on CHEERS because everybody there worked on CHEERS. We all looked pretty good for thirty years – even the writers.

First, the cast.

I watched Cheers its whole run, but missed the reunion. I felt they destroyed the show the last season and only watched a few episodes.

@edgarblythe,
I remember the music better than I do the cast, edgar.

Don't know Tobacco Road by Jefferson Airplane, but I vaguely recall the book by Erskine Caldwell. Just checked it out and it wasn't well received.

I guess the entire idea was about poor folks and their living conditions.

Your song reminded me of Smoke Gets in Your Eyes.

This is supposed to be Miles Davis.

and, the lyrics.

They asked me how I knew
My true love was true
Oh, I of course replied
Something here inside cannot be denied

They said someday you'll find
All who love are blind
Oh, when your heart's on fire
You must realize
Smoke gets in your eyes

So I chaffed them and I gaily laughed
To think they could doubt my love
Yet today my love has flown away
I am without my love

Now laughing friends deride
Tears I can not hide
Oh, so I smile and say
When a lovely flame dies
Smoke gets in your eyes

Tobacco Road was Erskine Caldwell's first published book. I liked it, but some of his later books were better, in my opinion. His God's Little Acre got lots of notice.
Smoke Gets in your Eyes is one of the great pop songs letty.

Back in the 50s, every rock singer there was recorded Long Tall Sally, from Buddy Holly to Marty Robbins to Elvis. Little Richard had the original and best version.
I know that one from Diana, letty. Good song.
