Good morning from here in Florida. Hey, hbg. Nice to see you here on Sunday. I really like They Call the Wind Mariah and the Monroe man as well. Enjoyed all the songs that you played, especially Is You Is or Is You Ain't my baby.

edgar, I enjoyed both of your songs, too. Hope all is well in Texas.

Shari, Welcome to WA2K radio. Isaak's Wicked Game was a good one.

Hope I didn't miss anyone. Had a few problems with the equipment in our little studio.

Today is Yo Yo Ma's birthday so how about of bit of classic.

@edgarblythe,
It's high noon here, edgar. Glad your weather is good.

You sent me searching again.

Joseph Arrington, Jr., better known as "Joe Tex", was an American musician who gained success in the 1960s and 1970s with his brand of Southern soul, which mixed the styles of country, gospel and rhythm and blues

Skinny Legs and All was funny.

Another birthday, guy.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks again for your comment, edgar. You're right, it's not the traditional kind but I like Neil's version.

Here's the original I think. Don't know why I know Carmen Cavallaro, but I do. A bit of info on the man.

Carmen Cavallaro was an American pianist. He established himself as one of the most accomplished and admired light music pianists of his generation

and, the lyrics.

The night was mighty dark so you could hardly see,
For the moon refused to shine.
Couple sitting underneath a willow tree,
For love they did pine.
Little maid was kind-a 'fraid of darkness, so
She said, "I guess I'll go."
Boy began to sigh, looked up at the sky,
And told the moon his little tale of woe.

Oh, Shine on, shine on harvest moon, up in the sky;
I ain't had no lovin' since April, January, June or July.
Snow time ain't no time to stay outdoors and spoon,
So shine on, shine on harvest moon, for me and my gal.

you all remember this movie ???

" NEVER ON SUNDAY "

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQht_oEDKTc

Quote:
Never on Sunday (Greek: Ποτέ Την Κυριακή, translit. Pote Tin Kyriaki) is a 1960 Greek black-and-white film which tells the story of Ilya, a prostitute who lives in the port of Piraeus in Greece, and Homer, an American tourist from Middletown, Connecticut — a classical scholar enamored with all things Greek. Ilya is a character close to the "hooker with a heart of gold" cliché.[citation needed] Homer feels Ilya's life style typifies the degradation of Greek classical culture and attempts to steer her onto the path of morality. It constitutes a variation of the Pygmalion story.

The film stars Melina Mercouri and Jules Dassin, and it gently submerges the viewer into Greek culture, including dance, music, and language (through the use of subtitles). The signature song and the bouzouki theme of the movie became hits of the 1960s and brought the composer, Manos Hadjidakis, an Academy Award.

It won the Academy Award for Best Song (Manos Hadjidakis for "Never on Sunday"). It was nominated for the Academy Awards for, respectively, Best Actress in a Leading Role (Melina Mercouri), Best Costume Design, Black-and-White, Best Director (Jules Dassin) and Best Writing, Story and Screenplay as Written Directly for the Screen (Dassin). Mercouri won the award for Best Actress at the 1960 Cannes Film Festival.[1]

@Letty,
Good afternoon Letty and fellow ak2'ers! We’ve been listening to Antonio play his piano for the last four hours so I thought this music was appropriate.

hbg, Love Never on a Sunday. Don't think that I saw the movie, but I certainly know the song. Thanks, too, for the info on the Greek background.

Rock, Skinny Legs was a good repeat of the former song. Don't forget to fix your link on the picture connection, buddy. Lyle is a good vocalist.

Marco, Welcome back. I truly love that piano and cello combination. Check out Yo Yo Ma, too. He plays a great cello, and today is his birthday.

Another birthday gal, y'all.

Well, from Pig Latin to another birthday boy.

First some info.

Li Yundi (simplified Chinese: 李云迪; traditional Chinese: 李雲迪; pinyin: Lǐ Yúndí) (born October 7, 1982) is a Chinese classical pianist. He is also popularly known as Yundi and formerly Yundi Li. Born in Chongqing, Li is most well known for being the youngest pianist to win the International Frédéric Chopin Piano Competition, in 2000, at the age of 18. He currently resides in Hong Kong.

Now, Chopin.
