@Barry The Mod,
Welcome back, Brit. I didn't see the Boy in the Stripped Pajamas. I checked it out and it seems to be a very sad movie.

Yes, I can see "the why of it all." As Jackie and Chris observed. We all hate war.

Here's another great composer. Bet you know him, Barry.

Barry, I loved Gee Gee with Leslie Caron and Louis Jordan (I think it's pronounced JorDahn in French.) He was scary in Swamp Thing.

Don't know Julia Lee's Gimme Whatcha Got, but it was a goodie.

The Doors Roadhouse Blues was good as well.

edgar, I had to smile at John Amos' We Were Hippies. That guy is one good looking dude.

Time for me to say goodnight, and Since it's Van Morrison's birthday, here is a tribute to that fabulous performer.

So glad that London was with us today. Maybe others will join us tomorrow.

From Letty with love to the world.

good evening all listeners !
today is the birthday of Itzakh Perlman .

Quote:
Itzhak Perlman (Hebrew: יצחק פרלמן‎; born August 31, 1945) is an Israeli-born violinist, conductor, and instructor of master classes. He is regarded as one of the preeminent violinists of the 20th and early-21st centuries.

in a documentary he stated that while he enjoyed classical music , his real love love was Klezmer music and jazz - particularly with his friend Pinkas Zuckerman .

Ah, big old full moon awakened me early this A.M.

hbg, You missed our tribute to Itzakh, but we can't play too many of that great performers' music.

edgar, My word, Texas, had no idea that Sammy did I Love You Because. Great one.

Sleep well, dear Barry. George Benson has always been a favorite of mine.

hbg, Love Oscar and Itzakh doing Making Whoopee. That song has always been funny to me. So nice to have you with us, Canada. Especially loved the hora as I have danced that one myself. Georgia on my Mind was also fantastic.

Two birthday guys for the early morning here.

First, a great Japanese conductor.

and, of course, one of my favorite Bee Gees.

Hope I didn't miss anyone's contributions as I was a bit moon struck. Razz

Good morning, folks.
I have always had a fondness for the Japanese and their music.
Makin Whoopie is a favorite of mine too.
I like Barry and all the Gibbs.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks again for restoring our signal and your comments, edgar. Don't know "the king's" The Wonder of You. Great one.

Today is this lovely lady's birthday, so she's gonna turn the beat around.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks again for your comment, edgar. As you know I love Roy Orbinson, and Running Scared was great.

Guess whose birthday is today. His first name is just like yours. Although there have been many versions of Tarzan, I like Johnny's the best.

I think I once mention on a thread that I worked for a man from Houston, once an Olympic swimmer, who vied with Johnny to star in the tarzan films.

When I was in boot camp in San Diego, it was told around that Paul of Paul and Paula had been placed in a company not far behind us. I heard that he had expected nothing from their song and promptly joined the service, once it was recorded.

edgar, I don't recall your having said that about your friend, but thanks for the memory jog. Paul of Paul and Paula was a good one. Don't know it, so once again thanks for the introduction

Rocky, Welcome back to you good buddy. As you know I love Santana and No one to Depend On says it for a lot of us.

Thinking about Richie Valens today and love La Bamba. First, the explanation of the song.

To dance La Bamba. To dance La Bamba you need to be a little bit funny.
A little bit funny and another little thing -- get going, get going! (literally 'get up and get up')
Ay! Get going, get going. I'll be for you, I'll be for you, I'll be for you.
I'm not a sailor. I'm not a sailor, I'm a captain, I'm a captain, I'm a captain.
