@edgarblythe,
Where is our world, edgar? Didn't know Baby's in Black by the Fab Four. A good one. Well, at least Texas and Florida are still hanging in.

Today is Fess Parker's birthday. What a great performer of the old west.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks for the comment, edgar. I recall Jan and Dean, but just to refresh our memory, a bit of info on the two.

Jan and Dean were a rock and roll duo, popular from the late 1950s through the mid 1960s, consisting of Jan Berry and Dean Torrence. They were pioneers of the vocal "surf music" craze that was popularized by The Beach Boys. Among their most successful songs was "Surf City" , which topped both the Billboard and Cashbox music charts in June 1963; "Drag City", which was a No. 10 hit on both the Billboard and Cashbox charts in 1963; and their song "The Little Old Lady from Pasadena", which peaked at No. 3. "Dead Man's Curve", which reached No. 8 on the Billboard charts in 1964, was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2008

Dead Man's Curve was a good one.

Here's another birthday guy.

edgar, I love that "Find a Wheel" by Mr. laid back Como". What a talent!

Barry, Welcome back. Don't know Everything But the Girl, so once again you sent me searching.

Everything but the Girl (often shortened EBTG) was a two-person English band, formed in Hull during 1982, consisting of lead singer and occasional guitarist Tracey Thorn and guitarist, keyboardist, and singer Ben Watt. The duo's most successful single was a Todd Terry remix of "Missing" charting in several countries in 1994.

Tom and Jerry? Funny, Brit. Thanks for the introduction by that wonderful duet.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with two songs.

First a surprise by "the king" He was on TCM .

Now a beautiful Polynesian song.

From Letty with love and hope that Ontario and Dublin will be back tomorrow on WA2K radio.

Barry, Thanks for The Big Ben Bossa by Enoch Light. Great one.

edgar, Loved your goodnight song by Jim Ed and Helen. Didn't know that one, so thanks again for the introduction.

You and Barry both hurry back.

Today is Robert De Niro's birthday, so here is a tribute to the man.

I like him best in The Deer Hunter and The Untouchables as Al Capone.

I recall him listening to Enrico Caruso with tears in his eyes.

More synchronicity. O Solo Mio. We already know the English lyrics to this one

@Barry The Mod,
Couldn't get your second song to play here, Brit, but I loved those drum sticks. Buy them all the time. What a clever ad to a marvelous classical song.

Speaking of drum sticks, here is a beautiful native American song replete with drums.

@edgarblythe,
Welcome back, edgar. Ah, the mysterious Leonard. Wonder what he means by One of Us Cannot Be Wrong. Thanks again for your comment, Texas.

Perhaps we had better warm up Mr. Cohen with another drum.

Love this one:

@edgarblythe,
Loved Pat Boone's Thee I Love, edgar. Perfect intonation.

Had no idea that Davy could play violin. Yep, The Alamo. We'll always remember that one, Texas.

Here's another birthday lady, and she'll always be remembered for "...or are you just glad to see me...."

From the Science Desk -
Two old friends saying goodbye -

Shuttles Come Nose-to-Nose

NASA's space shuttles Endeavour and Atlantis switched locations today at Kennedy Space Center in Florida, and in the process came "nose-to-nose" for the last time in front of Orbiter Processing Facility 3.

Endeavour was moved from Orbiter Processing Facility 2 to the Vehicle Assembly Building where it will be housed temporarily until its targeted departure from Kennedy atop the Shuttle Carrier Aircraft in mid-September. After a stop at the Los Angeles International Airport, Endeavour will move in mid-October to the California Science Center for permanent public display.

Now in the processing facility after leaving the Vehicle Assembly Building, shuttle Atlantis will undergo preparations for its move to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in November, with a grand opening planned for July 2013....
