@Barry The Mod,
You sent me searching again, Brit.

Arioli had been singing in jazz clubs in Montreal when she met guitar player Jordan Officer at a jam led by Stephen Barry. Together they started the Susie Arioli Band. Their first big opportunity came in 1998 when after a successful outdoor show they were asked by the Montreal International Jazz Festival to open for Ray Charles. Their opening set got the attention of Montreal critics and soon after they released their first CD, It's Wonderful.

Never thought of Honeysuckle Rose as a jazz tune, however.

Just like Diana Krall, she redid a lot of those old jazz tunes.

Noticed that she also redid Bunny Berrigan's I Can't Get Started With You, Barry.

I started out intending to comment on all the songs, but I get confused and forgetful with that many. I really loved Welcome Back Kotter. Another cast member died a few years ago. His character name was Juan Epstein, I think. He was supposed to be Jewish/Puerto Rican.
With the discussion of Moon River, I feel moved to play my favorite version of it:

@edgarblythe,
Love that version of Moon River by Jerry Butler. I understand how difficult it is to comment on all of the songs that we play here. I knew that you would know Welcome Back Carter.

Thinking of O Solo Mio, now, and here are two versions of it.

First, Andrea.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-qFg8Refpw

Elvis did that one as well.

Here are the different lyrics of the song.

It's now or never,
come hold me tight
Kiss me my darling,
be mine tonight
Tomorrow will be too late,
it's now or never
My love won't wait.

Just like a willow,
we would cry an ocean
If we lost true love
and sweet devotion
Your lips excite me,
let your arms invite me
For who knows when
we'll meet again this way

It's now or never,
come hold me tight
Kiss me my darling,
be mine tonight
Tomorrow will be too late,
it's now or never
My love won't wait.

Here are the lyrics that I am more familiar with

Love is a flower
That blooms so tender
Each kiss a dew drop
Of sweet surrender

Love is a moment
Of life enchanting
Let's take that moment
That tonight is granting

There's no tomorrow
When love is new
Now is forever
When love is true
So kiss me and hold me tight
There's no tomorow
There's just tonight

@edgarblythe,
Great one by America, edgar, and thanks again for your comment. I know that song; just didn't know the title. Sister Golden Hair is really good.

Incidentally, that should have been Welcome Back Kotter, not Carter. Razz

Here's a great quartet.

@McTag,
Welcome back, Mac. Don't know Neville Dickie, but the Robin's Return is evidently stride and ragtime piano. Love it!

Here's Scott Joplin doing his thing.

Barry, I like all of those Ravi songs, but my favorite that you played was Sir Elton's Can You Feel the Love Tonight.

euro, hurry back. Love Leonard's Everybody Knows.

Going to say goodnight a bit early, and we have had a terrible storm here.

Same songs, but one is an instrumental and the other with lyrics.

First Mantovani.

There was lots of speculation as to whom Dylan aimed this broadside. I never did figure it out.

@edgarblythe,
I liked that mystery song by "the jester". Maybe he meant nothing by it.

Hurry back, edgar. Guess whose birthday is today and she is still with us.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks for restoring our signal, edgar. What Makes the Red Man Red was funny. They're not really red, you know. They got the name from the war paint they used.

Interesting info for this afternoon.

The Broadway smash "Jersey Boys" is about to get some tough competition -- from an original Jersey Boy. Frankie Valli, whose falsetto fuels The Four Seasons' music, on Wednesday announced plans to make his Broadway debut with seven shows at the Broadway Theatre from Oct. 19-27. The band is celebrating its 50th anniversary. That will put him up against "Jersey Boys," the behind-the-music musical about the doo-wop group. Valli will sing the same songs at his show. "I've performed around the world in every size theater imaginable, but it has always been my dream to play Broadway," Valli, 78, said. Tickets go on sale Aug. 23. The musical, which opened in 2005, tells the story of the band -- Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi -- and features 20 Four Seasons songs, including "Sherry," "Big Girls Don't Cry," and "Oh, What a Night."

Here's Frankie, now.

@edgarblythe,
Don't know that one by "the king", edgar.

Here's one to match by The Lettermen.

They were inspired by The Four Freshmen.
