@eurocelticyankee,
Welcome back, euro. Loved that Mary Poppins song. Barry, however, said that Dick Van Dyke had a terrible cockney accent.

Don't know Heaven 17's Let me Go, but they were great. Once again, thanks for the introduction and your comment.

Here's a weather report. Razz

Thanks, Barry, for your observation and recognition.

You Sent me searching, of course.

Junior Walker was an American musician. His group, Junior Walker & the All Stars, were signed to the Motown label in the 1960s, and became one of the label's signature acts.

Great one by the Motown man, and edgar, loved That one by Jerry Lee.

Ah, euro you hurry back and sleep well with that sweet lullaby

Well, I prefer this one by:

http://www.oscars.org/awards/academyawards/about/awards/images/side_oscar.jpg

Peterson, but this is a great version as well, and the original, methinks

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-EkB2eb6M98&feature=fvwrel

And, the lyrics.

Cigarette holder which wigs me
Over her shoulder, she digs me.
Out cattin' that satin doll.

Baby, shall we go out skippin?
Careful, amigo, you're flippin',
Speaks Latin that satin doll.

She's nobody's fool so I'm playing it cool as can be.
I'll give it a whirl but I ain't for no girl catching me,
Switch-a-rooney!

Telephone numbers well you know,
Doin' my rhumbas with uno
And that 'in my Satin Doll.

By Duke Ellington, Billy Strayhorn and Johnny Mercer.

Here's a guy I don't play enough of....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJL_elZHS00&feature=related
Bruce Hornsby - Ripple.

If my words did glow with the gold of sunshine
And my tunes were played on the harp unstrung,
Would you hear my voice come thru the music,
Would you hold it near as it were your own?

It's a hand-me-down, the thoughts are broken,
Perhaps they're better left unsung.
I don't know, don't really care
Let there be songs to fill the air.

Ripple in still water,
When there is no pebble tossed,
Nor wind to blow.

Reach out your hand if your cup be empty,
If your cup is full may it be again,
Let it be known there is a fountain,
That was not made by the hands of men.

There is a road, no simple highway,
Between the dawn and the dark of night,
And if you go no one may follow,
That path is for your steps alone.

Ripple in still water,
When there is no pebble tossed,
Nor wind to blow.

You who choose to lead must follow
But if you fall you fall alone,
If you should stand then who's to guide you?
If I knew the way I would take you home.

La dee da da da, la da da da da, da da da, da da, da da da da da
La da da da, la da da, da da, la da da da, la da, da da.

Barry, Glad you liked the Oscar.

All of your songs were great:

You Never Can Tell by Ronnie
The one by Jerry Garcia
The one by Bruce Hornsby
Caro Jones' Ripple or was that It's Impossible.

Hope I didn't miss any, Brit, nor get them mixed up. It's been a bit of a complicated evening for your PD.

edgar, America's Lonely People reminded me of The Rigby lady.

Saying goodnight a bit early as my head's a bit cloudy.

My daughter enjoyed the Kris concert, so I thought that I would do an original by him as a goodnight song.

Wonderful to have Ireland and London with us today and hope that others will come and play.

From Letty whose love has never weakened

@edgarblythe,
Hurry back, Texas.

First, a poem for today:

React

to the dreams you have today

listen what they have to say.

Because

they lived the life ahead

playing forward in your head.

Don’t

examine them too hard

play the scenes but be on guard.

Beware

the conflicts that you see

fighting which one is the key.

Choose

the true meaning of the dream

and follow your soul’s theme.

Look

to change your life in time

reset tomorrow’s climb.

Use

the dreams within your mind

instead of flying blind.

Dream.

Michael Charles Messineo

Now, a great song by someone who did it so long ago, and one who is no longer with us.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsb-lXec76w

and, the lyrics.

Once I laughed when I heard you saying
that I'd be playing solitaire,
uneasy in my easy chair.
It never entered my mind.

Once you told me I was mistaken,
that I'd awaken with the sun
and order orange juice for one.
It never entered my mind.

You have what I lack myself
and now I even have to scratch my back myself.

Once you warned me that if you scorned me
I'd sing the maiden's prayer again
and wish that you where there again
to get into my hair again.
It never entered my mind.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks for restoring our signal, edgar. If you're talking about the poem and the author, I didn't know him either. It was one of those strange moments when I thought of a dream that I had had and found that guy. It matched my mind for the time.

Of course, Miles Davis is a jazz icon.

Didn't know your Skyliners either, but This I Swear was a good one.

Today is Tony Bennett's birthday, so here is an unusual tribute to him.
