Good morning, peoples. I especially appreciate the Woody Guthrie tribute. I have a vinyl album of his dustbowl songs. My favorite Bergman film is Virgin Spring.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks again for your comments, edgar. Harry does a great job of Woody's song.

Ah, Thinking of camping at Manteo. It was a place called Sandpiper's Trace.

And here are The Sandpipers singing about Saturday.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks for keeping us on the air, edgar, Yep, The Sterile Cuckoo. Love that one by The Vogues. Turn Around Look at Me was great.

Speaking of Sandpiper's Trace, guess what movie this lovely song is from.

Afternoon Ms Letty,Ed and all WA2K peeps.Would the film title have anything to do with a medium-sized wading bird, with a fine straight bill, yellowish legs and a conspicuous long white stripe from the bill over the eye to the back of the neck? Wink .

From the Local News desk - No change in the weather here in London town.We're still dodging the heavy showers.
The military are back,to "protect" the Olympic Games.The aircraft carrier HMS Ocean is back in Greenwich with her helicopters,ground to air missile sites are stationed all over the place,and fast jets at RAF Northolt are on 24 hour alert just in case Mr Taliban want's to have a pop at us Cockneys.

Back to the music.Here's Baden Powell (no,not the dib dib dob dob one) with a classic tune....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tN6ti5ay108&feature=related
Baden Powell - Manhã da Carnaval.

"Manhã de Carnaval" ("Carnival's Morning"), is the title of the most popular song by Brazilian composers Luiz Bonfá and Antonio Maria. It appeared in the 1959 Portuguese-language film Orfeu Negro (Black Orpheus), by French director Marcel Camus and based on a play by Vinícius de Moraes.

In the USA, the song is also known as "A Day in the Life of a Fool", "Carnival", "Theme from Black Orpheus", or simply "Black Orpheus". In France, the song is also known as "La Chanson D'Orphée." The song is also known by the Spanish title "Mañana de Carnaval". All versions of foreign texts were written by different people using Bonfá's original music

Baden Powell de Aquino (August 6, 1937 - September 26, 2000) usually known simply as Baden Powell, was one of the greatest Brazilian guitarists. He often performed on stage during most of his lifetime, and recorded an extensive discography comprised by LP and CD albums produced in Brazil and Europe, particularly in France and Germany.

edgar, I loved that one by Judy. I had forgotten about Bastille Day. Do remember Leonardo DiCaprio doing The Man in the Iron Mask.

Welcome back, Barry. A Day in the Life of a Fool was fantastic. I remember that one from Black Orpheus. If Mr. Taliban wants to purge the cockneys, turn into a sparrer and peck him on the head. Sorry about the rain, buddy.

Those little birds were all over the place here on our ocean at one time. They were always running like mad to escape the tide and protect their little legs.

Bon Jovi?

There is a new Abraham Lincoln novel. In it, he survives Boothe's attack and then runs afoul of congress. The Impeachment of Abraham Lincoln, I believe is the title.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, How folks twist history is still a favorite of mine. There was also the suggestion that John Wilkes Boothe was treated for his bad leg by Dr. Mudd.

I like The Three Mouseketeers as well. "..touche monsieur pussycat..."

Love that one about President Garfield by the "the man in black"

More synchronicity, because today is Dale Robertson's birthday, and guess who introduces the man.

Vaguely remember him in The Wells Fargo series.

Barry, the only song that was rather odd to me was Corcovado.

My favorite of yours was Ahmad Jamal. What a talent. Wish I could comment on each one, but I listened to all of them, Brit.

Reyn, Welcome back and I really enjoyed that one by Kansas.

edgar, You know how I love Brook Benton. Don't know Endlessly, but once again, thanks for the introduction.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with two songs.

First, my favorite version of Corcovado.

Now, one that I think many of us missed.

So great having London and Canada with us.

Hope you all check out Dale Robertson. I was stunned at his performance.

From Letty with love and appreciation

They run a Dale Robertson TV series on the weekends. I don't recall the name of it. He owns a railroad in the old west.
