@edgarblythe,
Goodnight and Good morning, edgar. Thanks so much for your comments. What a fantastic version of James Joyce and his guitar. Of course you know how I have learned to appreciate Hank, and Move it on Over was a good one.

Thinking of Maureen and Gene today

Jelly Roll Morton : The Black Bottom Stomp !

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CIerJMCK5_E

Quote:
Ferdinand Joseph LaMothe (October 20, 1885 – July 10, 1941),[1] known professionally as Jelly Roll Morton, was an American ragtime and early jazz pianist, bandleader and composer.

Widely recognized as a pivotal figure in early jazz, Morton is perhaps most notable as jazz's first arranger, proving that a genre rooted in improvisation could retain its essential spirit and characteristics when notated.[2] His composition "Jelly Roll Blues" was the first published jazz composition, in 1915. Morton is also notable for naming and popularizing the "Spanish tinge" (habanera rhythm and tresillo), and for penning such standards as "Wolverine Blues", "Black Bottom Stomp", and "I Thought I Heard Buddy Bolden Say", the latter a tribute to turn of the 19th to 20th century New Orleans personalities

edgar, thanks once again for your comments. Loved The Four Preps doing Down by the Station. As a kid I recall doing:
Down by the station early in the morning,
See the little puffer bellies standing in a row.
See the little fireman turn his little handle
Toot toot chug chug here we go.

hbg, There was a revival of the roaring '20's and I learned to do the charleston.

Love those oldies:
Dance Craze

Black Bottom Stomp Jelly Beans

Dr. Jazz.

Thanks for the memory jog, Ontario.

Here's another charleston.

One time my grandfather stopped by the house and he happened to see on our TV a pair dancing a mad Charleston. He said, "They wasn't no such goin' on as that when I was boy." Punchline being, it was a film made when Grandpa was pretty young.

Love that personal anecdote, edgar, and Harry is one of a kind.

Wow. An asteriod the size of a city block is supposed to pass close to earth tonight.

Not certain that is the one being featured, but let's hope that it brings us music and not disaster.

@edgarblythe,
Glad it worked, edgar. Ah, Love JP Richardson doing Big Bopper's Wedding. The one that I recalled by him the best is Chantilly Lace. What a loss.

For some odd reason your wedding song reminded me of this one. Don't know why I know it once again.

edgar, Thanks again for your comments and loved your goodnight song by The Four Preps. You hurry back, Texas.

hbg, Ugly Bug Ball by Burl was funny and John McCormack's Moonlight and Roses was one that I do know, just not by him.

Ah, me. Stayed up most of the night wondering about the asteroid

@Barry The Mod,
Welcome back, Brit. I love, love, love reggae music and Cherry Oh Baby was great. Eric is a wonderful interpreter as well.

For some reason, your Cherry Oh Baby reminded me of this one, but first some info about The Highwaymen and others

"Cindy, Oh Cindy" is a song written by Robert Nemiroff and Burt D'Lugoff, and credited to their pseudonyms, Robert Barron and Burt Long. Nemiroff took the name of the song from his young daughter, Cindy.

The song was originally recorded in 1956 by Vince Martin and The Tarriers, and quickly covered by Eddie Fisher. Both versions made the charts that year; for Fisher it was his last Top 40 single.

The song was also covered by the American rock band The Beach Boys in 1962 although the song remained unreleased for many years. The song was eventually released on the re-release of the Surfin' Safari/Surfin' USA albums.

Other versions have been recorded by Tony Brent, by Perry Como, by The Highwaymen, by Waylon Jennings, and in German by Margot Eskens.
