good evening msletty , ed and all listeners !
tonight i'll present some classical and semi-classical music .

first is the SABRE DANCE by Aram Khachaturian - it's his birthday today .
( i would have had trouble spelling his name and had to copy and paste it )

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqg3l3r_DRI

Quote:
Aram Ilyich Khachaturian (Armenian: Արամ Խաչատրյան; Russian: Ара́м Ильи́ч Хачатуря́н; June 6 [O.S. May 24] 1903 – May 1, 1978) was a prominent[1][2] Soviet Armenian composer. Khachaturian's works were often influenced by classical Russian music and Armenian folk music[3]. He is most famous for the Adagio of Spartacus and Phrygia from his ballet Spartacus, and for the "Sabre Dance" from his ballet Gayane and the adagio from the same ballet, much used in films

Good morning WA2K folks,

George, Isn't "the velvet fog" wonderful? Loved Rt. 66 by Buckwheat and partner. There's buckwheat cakes and Indian chowder; makes us fat and a little bit fatter..." Razz

hbg, Sabre Dance by Aram I do know. Ray's Georgia on my Mind is now the state song. Love it.

edgar, Outskirts of Town I don't know by Ray. Thanks for the memory.

McTag, a great match. Stevie and Albert's Outskirts was perfect as was Carlos and Eric's guitars. Rather reminded me of "Two Guitars".

I awakened a bit early today thinking of this funny song:

I saw a baby woodchuck sitting on a knoll,
Blinking in the sunshine fat and brow and droll.

He ate a patch of clover,
And then he ate another,
And as he grabbed a big paw full
Out popped his little brother.

His little brother kick and bumped and bowled him over,
They fought like infant furies for a patch of clover.

Then spanked they were in sunshine by their firm pawed mother,
Who marched them up the hill to home,
The woodchuck and his brother.

Today is Tom Jones' birthday, so let's hear one by him.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks for restoring our signal, edgar and once again we appreciate your comments. We all know it's Thor's day, and he's live up to his reputation.

Didn't know that one by Ray, but he is, was, and will always be great.

Better hurry and play a song before he let's that hammer fall again.

McTag's Two guitars reminded me of this one.

@Barry The Mod,
Great one by the former Cat Stevens, Brit. Were I to attend, I guess I would have to haul out my old London Fog raincoat; trench coat; Mac.

We're drenched here, so maybe we had better stop the world and get off.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks again for your comments, edgar. Love Blues in the Night by Dinah. Somehow, she reminded me of Doris Day.

Here's a response to Barry's quartet from Nairobi and performing in Texas.

Sleep well, Brit. I know California Dreaming best by The Mammas
and the Papas.

A bit about Ernie Kovacks.

Kovacs was more than another wide-eyed, self-ingratiating clown. He was television's first significant video artist. He was its first surrealist... its most daring and imaginative writer. He was... television's first and possibly only auteur. And he was a genius. In commercial terms, a genius is any entertainer... who finds a new way to make money. Kovacs never fit that description. Kovacs' genius lay in the realm of art. There, a genius is someone who causes an audience to look at the world in a new way.

He died at age 42 in a car crash

Edgar, Loved Hubba, Hubba, Hubba by Perry. I remember that, too.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with two songs.

First, a birthday lady.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxfhIePHUBk

Now, a funny parody on Jo Stafford's song.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2T3t7eb_UF0

From Letty with love to the world and a salute to yesterday's folks. Scotland, London, Ontario, and everyone
