good evening msletty , ed and all other listeners to wa2k !

tsk tsk ... ...

did no one notice that today is the birthday of the great Freddy Fender ?

Quote:
Freddy Fender (June 4, 1937 – October 14, 2006), born Baldemar Garza Huerta in San Benito, Texas, United States, was a Mexican-American Tejano, country and rock and roll musician, known for his work as a solo artist and in the groups Los Super Seven and the Texas Tornados. He is best known for his 1975 hits "Before the Next Teardrop Falls" and the subsequent remake of his own "Wasted Days and Wasted Nights".

he and other tex-mex musicians were a favourite of mrs. H .
when we were in texas in 1979 we drove from austin to big bend national park and back - my , were those backroads lonely - so the radio was turned up to full blast and we got an introduction to TEX-MEX music :

( thanks for the memories ! )

in texas we also were introduced to " Chicken-fried Steak " Shocked Smile

edgar, loved that one by "the jester". Thanks for your comments to everyone on our radio station. Don't know "....crawl out your window..."

Well, my goodness another Floridian joins us. Welcome, Jeffery.

hbg, Freddy Fender is great. Love Rancho Grande and The Texas Tornadoes.

ehBeth, welcome back to you as well. Yep, Barry does some good stuff here.

Time for me to say goodnight, but first some info about the Queen's performers.

Other name attractions set to perform, as confirmed by the BBC: Elton John, singing "Your Song, I’m Still Standing" and "Crocodile Rock"; Robbie Williams, "Mack the Knife"; boy band JLS, "Everybody in Love" and "She Makes Me Wanna"; as well as Kylie Minogue, Stevie Wonder and Shirley Bassey, with her classic (and highly appropriate for this occasion) "Diamonds Are Forever."

Here is the one her majesty requested.

and since Texas sent me searching again, A tribute to Henry.

So nice to see Canada, London, and Tampa with us. Always appreciate new faces on the horizon.

From Letty with love to the world

@hamburgboy,

Thanks Hbg, for the sound of a good military band.
We were in Austria, and in Salzburg, last year.

Cream of British brass bands: Black Dyke, here this year at Delph.

Good morning, everyone. hbg, missed your Austrian march, and thanks for the dedication.

edgar, Thanks again for your comment, and Harry's Little Bernadette was so lovely.

McTag, Don't know Black Dyke, but I did find this information.

The day has a cultural significance in northern England, as the date on which the annual Whit Walks are traditionally held. By convention, the Whit Walks coincide with brass band contests, held in Saddleworth, Tameside and other outlying areas of Greater Manchester.

How about some songs for the Queen.

and Sir Elton.

and, one to match edgar's Harry song.

That full moon did the gravity thing again, but I love seeing it hanging over the Intracostal waters.

Good morning folks.
When I first came upon Harry's song, I expected something like The Song of Bernadette.
Well, it gonna be a busy day. See ya all later on the radio.

Hurry back, edgar and thanks again for your comments.

While our Brit and our Scotsman exchange memories, here's another memory.

First some info on the birthday man.

Robert Merrill (June 4, 1917 – October 23, 2004) was an American operatic baritone, who was also active in the musical theatre circuit.

Love this one, yawl.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, thanks for restoring our signal. Wow! Smiley doing It's My Lazy Day was great. What a great memory jog, Texas. As you know, your comments are always appreciated.

More synchronicity. Father's day is this month, and I'm thinking about steam engines right along with Nat.

@hamburgboy,
hbg, Welcome back yet again.

You sent me searching about Kenny G. (and I love jazz)

Kenneth Bruce Gorelick (born June 5, 1956), better known by his stage name Kenny G, is an American adult contemporary and smooth jazz saxophonist. His fourth album, Duotones, brought him breakthrough success in 1986. Kenny G is the biggest-selling instrumental musician of the modern era, with global sales totaling more than 75 million albums.

What a great jazz man, and that one from Casablanca was wonderful.

Also love the string orchestra doing Badner Madln. The visuals were beautiful as well.

Have you ever been here?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=onw1JK007Sk&feature=related

The last concert I attended was at Universal Studios. Jethro Tull.

hey, Texas. The first series of trains were steam, methinks. Back later to acknowlede your contribution
