euro, Loved Pink Wine, but I don't know the lady, so I searched her out.

Deana Carter (born January 4, 1966 in Nashville, Tennessee) is a country music artist who broke through in 1996 with the release of debut album Did I Shave My Legs for This?, which was certified 5× Multi-Platinum in the United States for sales of over five million. It was followed by 1998's Everything's Gonna Be Alright, 2003's I'm Just a Girl, 2005's The Story of My Life, and 2007's The Chain. Overall, Carter's albums have accounted for 14 singles, including three which reached Number One on the Billboard country charts: "Strawberry Wine", "We Danced Anyway", and "How Do I Get There".

Loved her, and thanks for the introduction.

edgar, Pussy willows and Cattails by Kenny Rankin brought by memories of the brooks in which I would wade as a child, and touch those soft plants.

"..pussy willows by the brook, you can find them if you look..."

Thinking about Johnny Mercer today, and found this great song that has been done by many folks.

Goodnight, dear Brit. I know how you feel about Donna Summer and Chuck Brown.

Goodnight, dear euro. Red, Red Wine by UB 40 was perfect.

edgar, Love Judy Collins' Sisters of Mercy. Don't know that one by her, but it was great.

Good to hear from the yitwails. I sent him The Quiet Town song and he responded with Yellow Bird.

Time for me to say goodnight, so I shall do so with Yellow Bird and Enya whose birhday is today.

From Alfred Lord Tennyson.

I hold it true, whate'er befall;
I feel it, when I sorrow most;
'Tis better to have loved and lost
Than never to have loved at all.

Now Enya.

Good morning from Florida.

edgar and euro, thanks again for your comments, and Ray Charles' is one of my very favorite performers.

Today is Perry Como's birthday, and as I have often noted, if I could compare a poet and a vocalist, it would be Robert Browning and Perry Como.

First, Perry.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSvWLri9zZ0&feature=related

Now Robert and Pippa Passes.

from "Pippa Passes"

The year's at the spring
And day's at the morn;
Morning's at seven;
The hill-side's dew-pearled
The lark's on the wing;
The snail's on the thorn;
God's in his Heaven -
All's right with the world!

Robert Browning (1812-1889)

Another way to begin the day is to listen to Andrea sing Dream/Song of Love.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_SlUo0RPSE&feature=related

This isn't the best translation, however.

I should like just one moment more
for my dream of love,
and I would be able to captivate you
with the sweetest song from my heart.
But you do not hear my cry
and perhaps have forgotten when you held me tight
and, amid kisses, whispered to me:
"I shall never forget you!"

My love, if you knew how bitter it is!
Everything here still speaks of you,
I weep and laugh and cry and speak and tremble
and hope, so as not to die!
But meanwhile my tremulous soul
burns with pain
and a dream of love sparks into life:
caresses, kisses, ectasy I shall never know again!

O beloved lips, o hands I adored,
I shall never be able to love like that again!
O dear voice, o heart which opened to me,
why, why did love come to an end?
Love, love, love!

Franz Liszt

Good morning, folks. Browning's poem is spot on, of course. See you all later in the day.

@Rockhead,
Rock, welcome back. Love that one by Dave, buddy. I recall Loggins and Messina, but not the song. Please Come to Boston was great as were the visuals.

Here's a tribute to a birthday boy.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks, Texas. I don't know that one by Marty, but he was lucky to some extent.

Here's a birthday man, and he's from Hong Kong. Love Yo Yo Ma's cello bit in the first part. I think that I might have seen Crouching Tiger; Hidden Dragon, but not certain.

@edgarblythe,
Bet you remember George Strait, edgar.

Loved Anastasia by Pat. Ingrid and Yul tried to make Mrs. Anderson of Charlottesville, Va. become that missing lady of the Tsars of Russia.

More synchronicity, Texas. You said that Little Joe of Bonanza did a movie about Tom Dooley. Guess whose birthday is today.
