@Letty,
Eeyore noticed and thinks that's one of his better photos - taken when he was much younger, of course.

My goodness. Our Brit is really keen on Jools Holland. Melody Gardot's Mira was great.

edgar, No matter about the visuals as I love Harry's Yellow Bird as well as The Platters' My Reverie. Love that song.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with a "sad on purpose" song.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jzx664u5DA&feature=related

Now, the lyrics.

This was used as the title tune of a British TV show.

Here I stand, watching the tide go out
So all alone and blue
Just dreaming dreams of you

I watched your ship as it sailed out to sea
Taking all my dreams
And taking all of me

The sighing of the waves
The wailing of the wind
The tears in my eyes burn
Pleading, "My love, return"

Why, oh, why must I go on like this?
Shall I just be a lonely stranger on the shore?

Great having Canada, Dublin, London, and Scotland with us today. Nice to have us 'mericans as well.

From Letty with lots of love to everyone.

@ossobuco,
Letty, I tried my hand at translating the Francesco Guccini song, Canzone per un'Amica. I used a fat dollop of poetic license.

The italian words are from LyricsMania.com - english an attempt by me:

Lunga e diritta correva la strada, l'auto veloce correva
The road was coursing long and straight, the car was going fast
the sweet summer had already begun, the sun was smiling down, the sun was smiling down...

Strong the hand holding the wheel, strong the motor roaring
You didn’t know death was awaiting you this day, was awaiting you this day.

You didn’t know that there was death, in youth it is strange
to be able to think our fate comes and takes us by hand, comes and takes us by hand.

You didn’t know, but so you felt when the road went crazy,
when the car went over the side and over again to stop, and over again to stop...

You didn’t know, but so you found when the crash killed you,
when the sky above collapsed too, when life fled, when life fled...

Afterwords silence reigned between the contorted metals:
sull'autostrada cercavi la vita, ma ti ha incontrato la morte, ma ti ha incontrato la morte...
on the autostrada you were searching life, but you met death, but you met death...

Vorrei sapere a che cosa è servito vivere, amare, soffrire,
I would like to know at what is the use to live, to love, to suffer,
spendere tutti i tuoi giorni passati se così presto hai dovuto partire, se presto hai dovuto partire...
to spend all your days past if so soon you had to leave, if so soon you had to leave...

I want but to remember how you were, to think you are still alive,
voglio pensare che ancora mi ascolti e che come allora sorridi e che come allora sorridi...
I want to think you are listening to me and then you smile and then you smile...

Good morning, all.

Our Brit is right about Jools. Not one thing here on TV concerning music that is fit to watch., not as far as I'm concerned.

osso, great translation. Thanks for that.

edgar, Thanks again for your comments. Don't know Straight A's in Love by the "man in black", but I do know, I Love You Because...

I, too, love Candy man by Sammy.

A birthday man, and here he is with friends. Love ya Burt.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks again for your comment, edgar. Don't know Just Across the Rio Grande by Roger. The only one that I recall by him is The Last Farewell. Love the visuals, however, especially the pink flamingos. I used to get the dance and the birds mixed up.

Just noticed that our Roger was in our wee studio talking about a young eeyore, and I do hope that he can get his donkey avatar back, as it always reminds me of this one.

Donkey Serenade is apt, I suppose. But this is the one I think of. (This song is from the first RCA Victor album to top a million copies in sales.)

@Barry The Mod,
Welcome back, Brit. Love Feeling Groovy by Paul and Art. First time I met firefly.

Here's one of my favorites by those two.

First, the instrumental, then the lyrics.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_gSydN_BYM&feature=related

The lyrics.

I'd rather be a sparrow than a snail.
Yes I would.
If I could,
I surely would.

I'd rather be a hammer than a nail.
Yes I would.
If I only could,
I surely would.

CHORUS
Away, I'd rather sail away
Like a swan that's here and gone
A man get tied up to the ground
He gives the earth
It's saddest sound,
It's saddest sound.

I'd rather be a forest than a street.
Yes I would.
If I could,
I surely would.

I'd rather feel the earth beneath my feet,
Yes I would.
If I only could,
I surely would.

edgar, thanks again for your comments. Don't know Chris August, but Starry Nights was beautiful.

Odd, I've had this song stuck in my head recently as tomorrow is Mother's Day.
