@edgarblythe,
edgar, Thanks again for your comments, and I really like Brook Benton, but I don't know Think Twice by him.

Here's one to match, Texas.

That guy does a pretty good version of "the jester's" original.

The Brook Benton song I played was a later and not as good recording as his original. But, I like it anyway.
The dude does Don't think very well. Here is another song from the same era.

edgar, That one by "the jester" was really good. I Dreamed a Dream was one of his better ones, Texas, and thanks again for your comment.

hbg, Love that polka just as much as I like Kraut and weiners. (bratwurst)

How about a Polish Polka.

WHEN A SOLDIER MAKES IT HOME
words and music by Arlo Guthrie

Halfway around the world tonight
In a strange and foreign land
A soldier packs his memories
As he leaves Afghanistan
And back home they don't know too much
There's just no way to tell
I guess you had to be there
For to know that war was hell

Chorus:
And there won't be any victory parades
For those that's coming back
They'll fly them in at midnight
And unload the body sacks
And the living will be walking down
A long and lonely road
Because nobody seems to care these days
When a soldier makes it home

They'll say it wasn't easy
Just another job well done
As the government in Kabul falls
To the sounds of rebel guns
And the faces of the comrades
Being blown out of the sky
Leaves you bitter with the feeling
That they didn't have to die

Chorus

Halfway around the world tonight
In a strange and foreign land
A soldier unpacks memories
That he saved from Vietnam
Back home they didn't know too much
There was just no way to tell
I guess you had to be there
For to know that war was hell

And there wasn't any big parades
For those that made it back
They flew them in at midnight
And unloaded all the sacks
And the living were left walking down
A long and lonely road
Because nobody seemed to care back then
When a soldier made it home

The night is coming quickly
And the stars are on their way
As I stare into the evening
Looking for the words to say
That I saw the lonely soldier
Just a boy that's far from home
And I saw that I was just like him
While upon this earth I roam

And there may not be any big parades
If I ever make it back
As I come home under cover
Through a world that can't keep track
Of the heroes who have fallen
Let alone the ones who won't
Which is why nobody seems to care
When a soldier makes it home

@edgarblythe,
edgar, Thanks again for your comments and that one by Arlo When a Soldier Makes it home, brought a tear to my eye. Thanks for the lyrics as well.

Today is Harper Lee's birthday. What a fantastic book and movie. Truman Capote didn't ghost write the book, he merely edited it for her.

Here is part of a piece I was reading earlier:

Truman Capote’s OTHER VOICES, OTHER ROOMS (1948). The tomboy character, Idabel Thompkins, which Capote based on friend Harper Lee, chides the main character Joel when he is embarrassed to undress in front of her.

Happy Birthday to Alabama-born [Nelle] Harper Lee (1926), who wrote To Kill A Mocking Bird, which features a character Dill, based on Capote.

here is another polka - by the " POLKA KING " : Who Stole the Keeshka ? "

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TA5UwugPyqw&feature=related

Quote:
" Who Stole the Kishka?" (originally spelled "Who Stole the Keeshka?") is a traditional polka tune, composed in the 1950s by Walter Solek and recorded and played by various bands. One popular version was familiar to American radio audiences from a 1963 recording by Grammy award-winning polka artist Frankie Yankovic.
A portion of the song includes three of various lyrics having to do with Polish foods, depending on who performs the song:

You can have my shinka
Take my sweet krusczyki
Take my plump pierogi
You can even have my chernika
Take my long kielbasa

The verse ends with the pleading refrain "but please bring back my kishka." Shinka is ham, while chernika refers to blueberries.

edgar, thanks for that info on Harper Lee. I guess we all know that Truman Capote wrote the first non fiction novel In Cold Blood.

Ah, little miss dynamite doing Sweet Nothings. Great one by her, Texas.

hbg, That was one great polka. I was a wee bit surprised to see the artist was Duke Ellington. Thanks for the info on the stolen ham and blueberries. Love it, Ontario.

Time for me to say goodnight, and first, another mockingbird from James and Carly in happier times.

And since we missed the jazz festival on Friday, let's listen to Herbie do his thing.

Hope euroGeorge is alright.

Great to have Canada and London with us and a wee bit from McTag.

From Letty with love to everyone.

After Jools' programme, I'm now a big fan of the Alabama Shakes.

Give them a play on your radio, please do.

Love your goodnight song by The Fab Four, edgar. Hurry back, Texas.

Welcome back, McTag. Love Alabama Shakes. Yep, we all gotta hold on, buddy.

Last evening, I watched a movie called the Rogue.

An idyllic wildlife cruise disintegrates into terror when a party of tourists are stalked by a massive man-eating crocodile. That made me think of this funny one by Rolf Harris.

@jcboy,
Welcome back, Morgan. Another sensual dance with a lady? Makes one want to go ga ga. Razz

Happy birthday to Daniel Day Lewis. Don't know if he can dance or not, but he did have one left foot.

I knew three or four of those happy songs and Rolf Harriss. I know Daniel Day Lewis's name, but have never seen him act that I recall.

Yesterday I bought an album titled Chimes of Freedom: The Songs of Bob Dylan. There are more artists involved than I can name.
Here is a cut from it.
