David Sylvian - World Citizen....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-l5qkcIT5NE

There goes one baby's life
It's such a small amount
She's un-American
I guess it doesn't count

Six thousand children's lives
Were simply thrown away
Lost without medicine
Inside of thirty days

In the New York harbour
Where the stock's withheld
It was the price we paid
For a safer world

World is suffering
World is suffering
World is suffering
World citizen

In Madhya Pradesh
Where they're building dams
They're displacing native people
From their homes and lands

So they hunger strike
Cos they believe they count
To lose a single life
Is such a small amount

In the name of progress
And democracy
The concepts represented in name only

His world is suffering
Her world is suffering
Their world is suffering
World citizen

World citizen

And the buildings fall
In a cloud of dust
And we ask ourselves
How could they hate us?
Well, when we live in ignorance and luxury
While our super powers practice
Puppet mastery

We raise the men
Who run the fascist states
And we sell them arms
So they maintain their place

We turn our backs
On the things they done
Their human rights record
And the guns they run

His world is suffering
Her world is suffering
Their world is suffering
World citizen

My world is suffering
Your world is suffering
Our world is suffering
World citizen

Who'll do away with flags?
Who'll do us proud?
Remove the money from their pockets
Scream dissent out loud?

Cos god ain't on our side
The shoe won't fit
And though they think the war is won
That's not the last of it

Disenfranchised people
Need their voices heard
And if no one stops to listen
Lose their faith in words

And violence rises
When all hope is lost
Who'll embrace the human spirit
And absorb the cost?

Not one life is taken
In my name
In my name

His world is suffering
Her world is suffering
Their world is suffering
World citizen

My world is suffering
Your world is suffering
Our world is suffering
World citizen

Miss/Ms Letty overslept today.

Hurry back, Brit. My favorite of yours was World Citizen by David Sylvian.

euro, UhOh! sorry about the spelling thing. Love Brian DEADY. Also enjoyed Japan by Cantonese Boy. Reminded me a bit of David Bowie.

Thinking of Nancy Wilson today. What a great vocalist.

If this lady tried to gatecrash your wedding, would you let her in?

Wedding crasher: UK queen drops in on ceremony.

The monarch dropped in moments after the nuptials of John and Frances Canning at Manchester Town Hall in northern England on Friday. The newlyweds said Saturday the queen chatted and posed for wedding photographs. The queen and her husband Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, were visiting the venue for lunch at the same time the wedding took place.
"It was very special — it was so lovely that she took the trouble to speak to us," bride Frances Canning told The Sun newspaper. The 48-year-old groom knew beforehand that the queen would be visiting the town hall, and jokingly wrote to Buckingham Palace to invite the monarch, the tabloid reported. He received a polite reply declining the invitation, but palace officials secretly arranged the meeting, the paper said.

Canning said he spoke with Prince Philip while photos were being taken. "He was a charming fella — for me it was the icing on the cake," he told The Sun. The 44-year-old bride was impressed the queen addressed them by their first names.

"She said I looked lovely and she wanted to wish us all the best for the future. "We're going to have to get a bigger wedding album now," she was quoted as saying. "Not many people will have pictures like that."

The British monarch was in Manchester to visit a number of sites, including a new BBC headquarters building in nearby Salford, as part of her Diamond Jubilee tour. The queen is celebrating the six decades since she ascended to the throne in 1952.

Natalie Merchant - Motherland.

Where in hell can you go
Far from the things that you know
Far from the sprawl of concrete
That keeps crawling its way
About 1,000 miles a day?

Take one last look behind
Commit this to memory and mind
Don't miss this wasteland, this terrible place
When you leave
Keep your heart off your sleeve

Motherland cradle me
Close my eyes
Lullaby me to sleep
Keep me safe
Lie with me
Stay beside me
Don't go, don't you go

O, my five & dime queen
Tell me what have you seen?
The lust and the avarice
The bottomless, the cavernous greed
Is that what you see?

Motherland cradle me
Close my eyes
Lullaby me to sleep
Keep me safe
Lie with me
Stay beside me
Don't go

It's your happiness I want most of all
And for that I'd do anything at all, o mercy me!
If you want the best of it or the most of all
If there's anything I can do at all

Now come on shot gun bride
What makes me envy your life?
Faceless, nameless, innocent, blameless and free,
What's that like to be?

Motherland cradle me
Close my eyes
Lullaby me to sleep
Keep me safe
Lie with me
Stay beside me
Don't go, don't you go....

Good morning, all. Thanks to edgar and Barry for keeping us on the air.

Hey, Brit. Your songs were great:

The Supremes and the Four Tops
Lloyd Brown Sharing the Night
The Tamlins Ting a Ling
Natalie Merchant Mother Land
The Green Bees
Caravan.

edgar, you hurry back. Really enjoyed all your songs:

Whad'd I Say by The BeeGees
Lonely Days by Van Dyke Parks.

Hope I didn't miss any. Ever since I walked out in the dark, barefooted to star gaze, I have gotten my days and nights mixed up.

Hope our hbg is alright.

To begin the day here on WA2K radio, let's start with Dusty.

From the Science Desk -
Something special happened in the Virginia sky yesterday night....
http://i1001.photobucket.com/albums/af138/barrythemod/To%20Forward/633775main_image_2206_946-710.jpg
Lighting the Sky

ATREX, the Anomalous Transport Rocket Experiment successfully launched five suborbital sounding rockets in the early morning hours of March 27, 2012, from the Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia as part of a study of the upper level jet stream. The first rocket launched at 4:58 a.m. EDT and each subsequent rocket launched 80 seconds apart.

Each of the rockets released a chemical tracer that created milky, white clouds at the edge of space. The launches and clouds were reported to be seen from as far south as Wilmington, N.C., west to Charlestown, W. Va., and north to Buffalo, N.Y.

The mission will gather information that will assist researchers to better understand the process responsible for the high-altitude jet stream located 60 to 65 miles above the surface of the Earth.

And we STILL have wonderful weather in the UK but back to the music....

@Barry The Mod,
Fantastic, Brit. Love your science reports. Need to check with some of my Virginia friends to see if they saw.

Love Nat's Pretzels and Beer song.

More synchronicity. Guess whose birthday is today. The Budweiser Beer Man.

Know these equines?
